Could be weight. On a stock spring under axle setup the thicker the pack the lower you move the axle. Not sure how they measure this stuff. Maybe since the shackles are longer it lets the springs extend(flatten) more.

This will be a great opportunity to meet some offroad folk, bike folk, and have a brew.

Everyone is welcome to attend this Fundraising event where the Flag2GC committee attends, volunteers, and riders show to turn in their money, take donations in person, and have a beer and enjoy some food. This year it is at Spokes on Southern, they have a great beer selection and great food!

July 26, 2018

Xterra Garage / Rear Lift
« Last post by AZGeorge on June 17, 2018, 10:11:50 PM »
I replaced my rear springs this weekend.  I love the lift, however, by the numbers, it's pretty strange.  The Xterra Service Manual, Page RSU-16, shows my Xterra should be 35.59" from the ground to the wheel well arch.  With my new springs (ALCAN, 400# support +3" lift) AND a +2" shackle, my rear wheel arch is just 37" above the ground.  I get the shackle really only delivers 1/2 of the extra length, but how is it that +3" springs plus 1" (1/2 of the 2") shackle only gives me 1.5" of lift?  Seems like it should be 4" more, so I should be riding at 39.6".

FWIW - I'm glad it's not that high, but I'm trying to understand this Xterra math.
