Title: PML
Post by: SUNSET on March 26, 2013, 08:28:27 PM
Hi gang,

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get a PML done?  Now, I know most will say to just do it yourself and normally I would agree but since I am completely buried working 100 hrs/week I have very limited time/energy and would rather spend that time resting, playing or with the family.  Frankly, it is worth it to me to have someone else do it.

So with that out of the way, does anyone know a place I can take it?  I called the dealer service dept and of course they were useless and had no recommendation, etc.  Some places will install a lift but I am not looking to install a lift kit.  I just want another 1-2 inches.

Any help would be appreciated.  I am out in the NE area (scottsdale/north phx)

Ugh.  Sorry, I am still learning here.  I just saw something that the PML is for 1st gen and not 2nd gen xterras?  I thought it was a way to get a minor 2" lift via the Tbars, etc.

Maybe the only way to get a 2" lift on the 2nd gens is with a kit.   If so, that's fine.  I guess I just need to figure out what kit.  Nisstec is a sponsor, so maybe I will have to consult

You could go spacer/shackle or spacer/add a leaf.

Those are good options.  Give Chris a call at nisstec he is well versed in this stuff and let us know what you decide on. There is members on her that can help with the install.

Thanks for the input, guys.  Much appreciated.

I have been fortunate to usually find a local garage for my particular vehicles that really know them well and can handle pretty much anything I ever needed.  They have had to bear the brunt of my general automotive ignorance, lol

It seems there isn't really a local garage that specializes in the X  or is sort of a go-to place for X mods.

Yeah the Nissan market isn't good in that.  Seems a majority of vehicles hit my driveway for mods.

There is also others on here that are willing to help you with the mods as well.

Doing the melt mod this week, when I get a little time.   That is probably the only mod I can safely handle.  ha ha

There is always PRG Products as well, if you can get Greg on the phone he can answer all questions and will be very helpful in answering noob questions. Sometimes parts take a little longer depending if he has them readily available but he should be able to tell you.

Good luck.

I've dealt with Nisstec many times this year. Chris will get back to you in 24 hours. You'll get an automated email, but he'll get back to you fast.

I agree, look at the club sponsor obviously, but dont make that your final decision in buying parts for your X just because they are a sponsor, do your research and make an informed decision.

Here are your main PML options and all 3 companies below have advanced options as well, if your willing to spend the money:

Thanks for all the responses.   They added a daystar spacer in the front when they put on the new bumper.  My understanding is this gave equivalent of a 2 inch lift with levelling to the rear.

I guess I will see how this goes.  I was not looking for more than 2 inches anyway and I prefer a neutral stance with no rake.

For now, I will leave it like this.

Thanks again, everyone

2" is about what I've got on my truck. I originally went with the front spacer and rear AAL (Add a leaf) to get the height I wanted. I was able to install 33" tires after that with the melt mod which involves taking a head gun and a hammer and melting back some of the plastic wheel well liner and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Finding shops knowledgeable on Nissan's is fairly uncommon, but I think that's one of the things that brings these communities closer is there are a lot of people out there willing to help each other. So more questions? Ask away! ;D
