Title: New Guy in El Mirage - Titan
Post by: danlowskiTitan on May 14, 2013, 10:56:08 AM
Hello All. New guy in El Mirage with a Titan. Name is danlowskiTitan aka Steve. From what I see on here, my Titan has a lot of work to be done to match up the others. Right now it is on some flashy 22's that came with it when I bought it. I plan on changing those. A lot of work planned but need to save up to execute it.

I am also happy to bring with me my Wife Laura and my 2 kids 5yr old Mackensi and 20month old Holten.
I look forward to meeting everybody hitting the trails.

If anybodyis interested in some trails on the west side of town, let me know so I can tag along!

Welcome to the club.
As for attaching a photo you need to host it somewhere, either photo bucket or picasa,  and use the embed photo option.  I don't use photo bucket, I use picasa, so depending which you use, we can give you more specific directions.

Ok, well I been trying for about 2 hours now and nothing is working. I am usually pretty good at this but now I'm not feelin too bright. I can't use photobucket because the network I have at my office is strict and blocks it for some reason. Picasa was downloaded but I never used it and couldn't find the code, i did however use the web address along with the img/img tool. Now I am using imageshack which is like photobucket. Still nothing is working. :( Could it be that I am using a Mac? That seems to be the reason for a lot of issues.

Here, try this: www.tinypic.com  Having a Mac shouldn't make a difference.

Upload your picture, then copy the text box beginning with [img]... paste in a post, and hopefully it works for you.

Also, welcome! I work out at Luke, welcome to the west side family. lol.

Here we go. As you can see it doesn't scream off-road but this is just a start!

Very nice! What do you have in mind for suspension?

I'm not sold on any particular suspension yet. For right now I am just going to start off with the leveling kit to get my front end up. From there I plan on getting a new wheel and tire package with a 2.5" to 3" lift. I am still trying to learn what is available and what will better suit it. I'm open to suggestions from anybody that has already dug into it.

Nice truck welcome. Its seems your on the right track with what you want to do. Now are 2wd or 4wd.

You really need to get some different wheels and tires. Then you can at least hit some trails. There are some on Craigslist somewhat cheap.

It is 2wd. My driving capabilities will make up for a little of that but rock crawling will not be in my future with this Titan. I am a big fan of the LOORS (Lucas Oil Off-road Racing Series) so that direction seems more likely.

I do plan on it and was the first thing I had planned to do when I purchased it except. I have encountered some road blocks right after that however by having to move into a new place (Loooong story of why it sucks to rent a house inserted here). I am now on catch up mode so I will have to wait a bit longer.

If your 04-07 2wd, which I am assuming you are based off your grill & headlights, a 2.5" leveling is about as high as you can go without having coilbucket contact. Solid billet leveling kits are the best & go for about $60-$70 on ebay. You may want to consider upgrading your rear leaf shackles to the 08+ style. The 04-07 shackles are known for breaking & putting the leafs through the bed floor.

If you want better ride quality & a leveled stance, Bilstien 5100's in the front would be ideal. Their adjustable, lowest setting is .5", middle setting 1.5" & highest setting is 2" of lift I believe. The higher the setting the stiffer the ride. You can find these for about $100 each. I'd say a 2" spacer & 5100's on the lowest setting would put you level & ride better than stock.

Thanks for the info. I think I will end up going in that direction. At first, I wasn't sure about only doing a spacer. How do you feel about Pro Comps. I was searching product that fits the Titan and Pro Comp kept popping up. I do like the Bilstiens though.

Also, I had no clue about the leaf's either. Thanx for the heads up on that.

After all that is tackled, I need to consider the wheel package I want. I been looking at 18's. What do you recommend?

I haven't heard much feedback on the Pro Comps, but it seems everyone loves how the Bilstiens ride on the Titan.
