How do you mount those front spacers with no holes? shouldn't they look like this. http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/xterra-15-inch-front-lift-spacers/

Post by: PitSnipe (Kyle) on August 14, 2013, 11:17:52 AM
I was thinking the same thing. I guess there are two different styles. Ill just have to figure it out when I do the install.
Title: Re: PitSnipe's 2011 Super Black X
Post by: sunny1881 on August 14, 2013, 11:41:53 AM
Here is NissTec's explanation:

Our front spacers are CNC Machined from solid 6061 T-6 Aluminum.
This in the coil style spacer pre-loads your factory coil to give you lift, decreasing nose dive and body roll
Can be used with stock upper control arms without the fear of coil bucket contact like most all top mount spacers have.

Basically you remove stock c/o's and have to have the spring unloaded then spacer goes in and spring reloaded. Must be done at a shop cant be done at home. PepBoys charged me $60 to take the top off of my stock ones and mounted to my Old Man Emu c/o's when I had them.

PRG design they bolt to the top of the stock c/o's so you dont have to have the spring unloaded, but as NissTec states more coil bucket contact with these.

So pick your poison...

Tires? I'm looking for round, black, and all terrain.  Something in a 285/75R16 either new or used. Anything is better than my street tires that came with it when I bought it.

I never figured out how to get a hook on the drivers side.  There is a lot of talk on thenewx.org about it but I wasnt sure if anyone got a solution.  Also, I managed to bash my hook so hard I bent it.

Very cool looks great!!! Your moving quickly on the mods I think you may need rehab. Just remember that will be 41 lb up there. Be careful the jerry can holder may collapse if you don't reinforce the whole bottom you may have issues.

Got a hold of some hard to find X Towers. Now I can rig up my Hi Lift mounts.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20131122_133632_zps24f6bc20.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20131122_133632_zps24f6bc20.jpg.html)

I removed the top piece and added a 3" bolt, a nut, and a screw on knob.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20131123_131108_zpsb9e53742.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20131123_131108_zpsb9e53742.jpg.html)

Here are just the mounts.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20131123_132548_zpsd15ea786.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20131123_132548_zpsd15ea786.jpg.html)

And here with the Hi Lift installed.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20131123_133037_zpsa26ca6d4.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20131123_133037_zpsa26ca6d4.jpg.html)
(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20131123_133053_zpsd52765bf.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20131123_133053_zpsd52765bf.jpg.html)

I really like how this turned out. I think the other two mounts are going to replace my current shovel mounts.

Sold my stock wheels and tires!
Bought a set of 285/75R16 Falken Wildpeak A/T.
Also recieved my NissTec adjustable shackles.

I had the Falkens for a week, decent tire I guess, I thought felt a little soft or squeshy when turning. I also didnt like the look, I wanted something more aggressive so I returned them and upgraded to Goodyear Duratracs, great tire and great mix between MT and AT, good for street and great for wheeling.

I can see a difference. Its not like an excessive six inch Jeep lift, but I can always tell when mine is taller than a stock one.

After 6 months of wood laying by my tool box, I have finally started my sub box build. It will be permanent and built/molded into the left panel in the cargo area. Got her mocked up and now to finish the box and a lot of fiberglass work ahead of me.

a lot indeed, I would think more detailed wood work would save you some fiberglass time, but I have very little experience with the glass.

So I removed the front sway bar after CANVAZ 2014 (broke a link). The X rolls a little around corners, but other than not too noticeable.

Today I installed an auxiliary fuse box. So far I had three separate power wires coming off of the battery powering auxiliaries. I was so tired of seeing the wires and was afraid of a future fire. So now everything is neat and clean.

Picked up the fuse box at Napa for $30. There are some really nice ones online, but I prefer to buy things in person. It has 10 terminals so I am set for future items.

So the stock front struts blew out some time ago. Thanks to Remo I was able to fix the bouncy ride. I did have to add my little touch to the spacers though.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20150112_150202_zps6xfr4oa7.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20150112_150202_zps6xfr4oa7.jpg.html)

Lets get this party started. I love being able to work on my rig at work.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20150112_152816_zpskps0qvam.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20150112_152816_zpskps0qvam.jpg.html)

So both front struts were leaking bad as I already knew. Upon further inspection I noticed that the passenger side strut rod looked bent. I pulled the bottom bolt and the entire strut and spring assembly blew apart. I couldn't believe that it was holding up as I drove it.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20150112_152800_zpsn4wd7e7d.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20150112_152800_zpsn4wd7e7d.jpg.html)

I installed the 5100 Bills and spacers.

(http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p792/Kyle_Zastrow/2011%20Xterra/20150112_165257_zpsbofxwswl.jpg) (http://s1351.photobucket.com/user/Kyle_Zastrow/media/2011%20Xterra/20150112_165257_zpsbofxwswl.jpg.html)

So I love the ride now. No more bouncing down the road. So far no coil bucket.
I now have 3" in the front and rear and it is finally level. Ground to fender well I am at 38"

So my coworker has an XJ with 6" of lift. He was baffled when he parked next to me and I was sitting higher than him. Just made me laugh. Yes I know he has way more flex and travel than me.

have you tried cranking the shocks more to see how the ride changes you crank it more and more? i'm surprised you havent got any cbc. I may do some cranking on my radflos to get a little more lift and see how it goes.

Ok,  so shut up and take my money.   I want this.

Look up retrofit key on TNX. There is a good write up. I got the new key fob on ebay for $9.99. You have to use the guts from your remote and the transponder from your key. Or if you have an awesome key guy like I do. He gave me a new remote and three blank keys. I then had my hook up at the Nissan dealer cut the key to the VIN and program the transponder. I love it.

So I was looking up cheap mods and I found one that I've wanted to do for years.

I bring to you the Key Retrofit. Love having it all in one.

I tried this mod yesterday with a huge fail, the key was slightly duplicated incorrectly at True Value, and I tried tearing apart one of the Ace Hardware transponder keys to retrieve the RFID chip. It turns out the chip they use in their keys are way too big, about the size and dimension of a starburst candy.

This was from an aftermarket key where they copied the original OEM key I had to make a spare. Inside the solid piece of dark plastic is a little circuit board, it looks sort of like this inside.

It doesn't resemble a regular looking transponder chip like these at all.

Since it was an aftermarket key made at Ace Hardware I thought it would look more like this inside, but its a solid block of hard resin plastic.

I took 3 Nissan keys that were all solid resin. I had to cut them all up to remove the transponder. The transponder looks exactly like the black ones in you pic. I had to destroy the keys to get the transponder out.

Yeah, that's the plan. I am going to bend it back, weld it and then reinforce it with a piece of steel. So I am on the search for UCA's at the moment. Regular diving it I cant even tell its broken.

I went with SPC's because they are easy to adjust and the ball joint is easily replaced. I have not found a shop that actually uses the extra adjustment ability during the alignment process.

I have had PRG style heim joint UCA's before on other trucks and they squeaked all of the time.

The Total Chaos UCA"s are more expensive but I can see that uniball lasting long once dirt gets in the grease.

It was a good two years I had with my Harbor Freight portable air compressor. The last two trips you have failed me though. I am ready to move on.

Hello OBA.
So I picked up a Viair480c compressor and two 2.5 gal air tanks. Time to mount, plumb, and add wiring. This is going to be fun.

Wired up my oba on/off switch and ran the air line to it. Also cut more of the front bumper away. And I replaced the cabin air filter.

It doesn't seem to affect it at all. All of the structure is still present. Lets just say its refined.

So I picked up some IF roof light bar mounts from AZGeorge a while back waiting for the day to buy a light bar. Well that day happened. I picked up a 43" curved bar.
I was dreading the install though. I knew from when I had my Xoskel light cage that my rivnuts were all striped out. So I had a slow day last week and I figured that Id take a crack at it. Dropped the headliner and removed the rivnuts. I hate those things. I replaced them with bolts and mounted the brackets and light bar. Not bad I must say. Holy wow is it bright.
