Title: Titan Swap Shocks and Struts?
Post by: PitSnipe (Kyle) on August 27, 2013, 08:59:33 PM
Hey all I have a question about Titan suspension. I have acquired a set of front  struts and rear shocks from a NIssan Titan Pro4x. They are the Rancho ones that come stock on it. My question is...will the bolt up to the X? Id love the upgrade, but don't really want the hassle if I'm just wasting my time.

I think you need longer half shafts and control arms, or something like that.  Let me google that for you, here is the link on thenewx for parts, and the link for how-to is in the the thread as well.  http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46048

So I was reading that the coil overs should work as long as I use the Xterra top plate. The three mounting bolts are different than the Titan top plate. This should give 1/2" lift. Now the rear I'm finding that something about under or over spring location is the issue.

The top plate is definitely wider and will not fit.  I'm not sure if the Titan coils are wider than the Xterra coils.  If so, they may not fit into the coil bucket.

Back in 2008, I put some Bilstein front shocks that were made for a Titan on my X with some lift coils from 4x4Parts.com  The lift coils were for the Xterra, but I had to change the top and bottom plate in order for everything to fit properly.  This setup was only short lived, as I went to the Radflo 2.5 front shocks with 600# Eibach coils the following year.

The rears might not fit.  I don't remember what the extended and compressed measurements are for the X, but you could always test fit them.

With enough cutting and welding, anything should bolt up easily.  ;D

So does anyone think it worth trying to make them fit in the X or am I wasting my time?

its a waste of time for just Rancho's. Put them on ebay and sell them for Beer money.

FWIW, I went through 3 sets of rear Ranchos before I moved up to the Radflos.  So far, the rear Radflos have lasted for 3 years (~60K miles) without any issues.
