Title: feeler on a local run and hanging out afterwords
Post by: jddirty on November 12, 2013, 07:23:42 PM
I have a free pass on Saturday and my even have the keys to the Xterra.  Was thinking of running east side of table mesa from new river to carefree and a stop at Harold's or the like to refresh.  I am open for ideas, let me know if you are interested. JD.

Darn it, I already have plans for this weekend.  For those that haven't been, the east side of Table Mesa is a fun trail.  I haven't been out there recently, and it may have changed since the last rain storm.  But, it should be totally doable in a stock 4x4.  For those of you in 2WDs, it really depends on trail conditions.  There are sections of this trail that can get too washed out for 2WDs to pass without strapping / winching.

***Please be advised that you should have a valid State Trust Land permit for the east side of Table Mesa.  They can be purchased at the State Trust office located at 1616 W Adams St, Phoenix, AZ 85007.  Individual permits are $15 for the year, and a family permit is $20 (covers two vehicles from the same family).  It is a quick process if you go there.  Alternatively, you can mail the application in (with a check or money order).  They do not take credit/debit cards, and they do not have an online application process.***

No worries JD, my post was geared more towards some of the newer members that may not be aware of the STL permits.

I'd absolutely love to do this run again, but need to do a few maintenance items first (my exhaust is hanging low and vibrating on my skids, and I want to change my transmission fluid (now that I have the skids off).  I have off from Dec 20th - Jan 2nd, so I could meet up during that time (if you are in town).

I am sure I can squeeze a day in that time frame ted.  I was actually thinking of leaving the x at home and taking my truck.  I have not been on the east side since rainy season so I do not know how bad/good it looks.  anywho, I will look at my wifes schedule and pick a day so we can get this on the board earlier and round up some folks.  give them time to get a permit if need be as well.

Damn, I would go but it's a little TOO far away right now, and I'm just going to stick to the trails in Sedona.  The one you're talking about is near phoenix right?
