Title: Rubber opinions
Post by: TeguTerra on April 27, 2014, 09:49:27 AM
So my next purchase will probably be rubbers, was wondering what everyone's opinion was for a good all around rubber that has some grip for off roading and still does a nice job on pavement. Have one person suggesting the BF Goodrich all terrains and another trying to sell me on the Cooper ATP,  what you think ?

I am a huge fan of the BFG All Terrian. Ran them for years and been great all around tire. They are not cheap but worth it in my oponion.

Ive run the BFG's. They are nice. I am currently running Falken Wildpeak AT 02. I like them. They are a little soft though. My next tire will be the Coopers or the Nittos.

The Wrangler Dura Trac a real good tire ?  I like the aggressive look of them and reviews seem pretty good.  I'm kinda pushed off the Cooper ATP tires case the side wall look and has some lower review ratings.

I love the Wrangler Dura Trac they are great not to noisy handle well on the highway look good and are great off road. But and this is a big but these tires in the rain man. I didn't have any issues with hydroplaning just grip in the corners and at stop lights. Now granted i'm a bit of a lead foot i just about did a 360 turning through an intersection that's how i found out. That was one of my best oh shit moments.

Dang, that would be a pants crapping moment, lol.  That is some good info, wouldn't want that happening with my wife and kids in the truck.

Stick with BFG. I have ran them for years and they hold up well and are a great all around tire. Just my $0.02 though.

I have read some reviews saying you don't get much miledege from the BFGs.   How many miles have you been getting on yours before needing a new set ?

I have got decent mileage out if them. I am not wheeling though. I am coming up on 2 years with this set and I still have a lot of life left. Wife drives it every day. To be honest I do not remember what my mileage was when I had this set put on.

Ive got the cooper atp's. I havent taken taken them through any hard offroading or anything. But I was in idaho this last year, and they handled great in the snow and rain. Havent had a chance to take them in mud yet. Going through gravel they handle well and kick our rocks very well.

I like them and havent had any issues with them thus far. been running them about a year or so and got them as 285/70/17's

I'd go with Trojan, they are name brand, don't break, have always had good luck with them, never a STD or pregnant chick, shit cant go wrong! Definitely Trojan!  ;D

Oh wait a minute are you talking about tires? Well in that case I'd go Duratracs, I had them on my X and would buy again.

Good mix between AT and MT, aggressive look, not to loud, good on the street and in the dirt.
