Title: New Tucson Member
Post by: Highpointer on October 01, 2014, 06:00:37 PM
Hi everyone. I'm originally from Louisiana and moved to Tucson in January of this year. Last week I traded in my 2wd 2012 Avalanche White X for a 2012 Metallic Blue S trimmed X in 4x4. I joined the forum to check out some of the mods you folks have done to your Xs. So far I've only added a receiver hitch and a set of Cooper ATPs but now that I have x4 I hope to do a few more mods like a slight lift, skids and a few more things to get me a little further down the trails. I'm enjoying the heck out of y'alls postings and pics. Keep em coming!

You should try to come out to the event down in Tucson this weekend (CANVAZ)

I like them a lot, TeguTerra. For me, they were a great improvement over the BFG Long Trail TAs which came on both of my Xs from the factory. And might I say those BFGs DO NOT like rocks at all!! My last outing over near portal saw two flats along one road. Blah! That's terrible odds for a fairly well maintained road!

So I read some reviews about the ATPs regarding vibration and such at varying/high speeds but I have not had any issues with them up to ca. 80mph. So far they do pretty darn well as an on/off tire for a daily commuter as well as on moderately maintained rocky roads like Reddington Pass with no issues whatsoever.

I have to fly out on Sunday for work but if something with CANVAZ is going on Friday afternoon/Saturday I might come check it out. I'll dig around on the forums for some info on it.

Welcome! I am running the ATP's also. And like them a lot. They are great tires for the price.

Yes, but depends on which X you saw?! ;) I was up last weekend at ASU campus then stopped in on South Mountain for a short hike, but did it in the white 2wd, not the blue 4x4 in my profile pic. Then last Friday with ticket in hand, I totally bailed on going to see the DBacks and Cards play...all to go climb Redington Pass and explore the east side of the mntns in the new blue X. Priorities. ;D ;D ;D

Yeah. Not far from you at all. Our office is along Anklam next to Pima West.

Rusty's sounds good. I haven't visited that place since moving back. Last time I was there was a couple years back. Good beers to be had at Dragoon too if you're ever down for a quick stop in there one thurs/fri afternoon after work.

Wow your right around the corner. Right now I'm out of the country till Nov. I have not been to Dragoon but its right across the street from me. I'm sure you'll see me around I'm in a lifted silver X with a snorkel driving like i stole it. If you see it feel free to stop me.

Remo, Glanced at your ride on the garage pages. Very nice! I am picturing it with the snorkel you mentioned.

I'm on my 8th or 9th week of travel, mostly east/gulf coast projects so only fighting 2 to 3 hour timezone differences but I can sympathize. Scheduling some PTO in Nov/Dec so hopefully run into you then. Safe travels.
