Title: "Bruce" sfujimoto123's 2005 se xterra
Post by: Jo-BOB on March 12, 2015, 10:09:52 PM
Hey everyone, I've been on here quite a bit but never made a build thread. Thought it was about time to do so.

Name: Bruce
Year: 2005
Trim: Se

Mods:

Suspension, tires and wheels
Armor/bumpers
Drirvetrain
Other equipment

Mods for the future:
Teguterra molle panels

I'm sure there will be more, but I cant think of now.

I did and do a horrible job of taking pics of my x, so there arent too many to post.

As he sits now:

couldnt pass up the opportunity to get a pic of me parked next to a rubicon. I had a good 6 inches on it.

One of the few pics I have of Bruce from early one, he still have a 1.5 in spacer up front and the OME leaf springs with adjsutable shackles in this pic.

haha ya I know its long over due, I wish I would have been more involved when I first got my x. I just thought I'll just do a couple mods and be done so no point in starting a build thread. Then it never stopped, and still isnt stopping haha.

After a long time of not doing anything the bug bit me and I had to do a couple things.

I added a stubby antenna, 1-2 minute mod. But awesome that I dont have that old school antenna flying around.

And I also added a smittybilt xrc 10k winch. So now I can pull all you suckers out when your stuck haha.

retrofitted a pair of cheap headlights i got off of craigslist. Waiting on a little adjuster i broke and to clear up the lenses before I put them on the rig.

Heres a pic of stock vs retrofitted. Its very basic, maybe i'll step it up on the 2nd set that I'm pulling off my rig.

I finally got around to getting some night pics of my hid's in projectors. to say the least I am happy with the install and wont ever look back at halogens.

This is before I got around to aiming them properly

Decided the faded plastic look was getting old so I took care of that on my rear corners, still need to do my side panels though.

Before

Now time to set up some on board air. Got this set up as a steal. Its the constant duty viair system with the 450c compressor at 100% duty cycle.

Mounted the tank where my spare use to be

then mounted the compressor in my bumper. It has a fair amount of protection so I feel confident it being there.

Another view of it bolted to my bumper

Well after a long 2 weeks of my radflo rear emulsion rear shocks being stuck in the southeast due to the storms they finally arrived.

I couldn't sleep tonight so I installed them. Took about an hour. I can tell these shocks are already much stiffer than the bilstein 5100's we'll see how they ride. Hopefully I can test them out this weekend.

Here are some pics.

And installed.

Will report back once I ride around with them.

Added some molle panels, thanks to teguterra (James). These are heavy duty. I'm excited to strap all kinds of things to it.

And of course I had my assistant helping with the install

Well it was Midnight and I was wide awake, and remembered I got a memory foam topper from my friend that I helped move. So I cut it to size to fit the back of my rig. Now My gf, pup, and I can overland much easier and travel without a tent.

As always I had the best helper a man could ask for.

Still plenty of space underneath to store things
(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/sfujimoto123/CAB6235C-9C93-426F-9B59-0AB42A3674D0_zpsxlmvwfvw.jpg)

Made a horizontal cut so I can flip it over onto itself.

All was that was needed was some cardboard, a sharpie, and a razor blade.

You'll have to let us know how that works out.  I tried it with a cheaper one and a second layer of pads and was still unable to sleep comfortably.  I thought about going thicker but it seemed like the space required killed the advantage of it.  I'm going to try using a couple ultralight sleeping pads.

We use to use our backpacking sleeping pads, they were okay. And since this was free I had no reason not to test it out. The foam is about 5 inches thick. I'm hoping to test it out soon.

Looks functional. If I had money I would go with those off road camper or a roof set up.   The Ultimate path , I might add.

I saw a old Army Jeep trailer stuck on the roadside in the ditch. Would love to get my hands on that!

I wish I could get a tear drop trailer or something similar, or maybe a roof top tent. But that will be down the road.

For now it will be smaller mods. And saving up to regear.
