Title: I'm back after long absence
Post by: Skaggs on May 07, 2015, 08:54:59 AM
Hi folks. Ive been out of the forums for a while because I moved out of state. Now Im back in Phoenix and I'm looking to get involved again. Just put on some 285/75/16 BFG AT KO2s on my Xterra (some trimming required ;D).

Maybe I could get some opinions on suspension: I've been running a PML and 2" body lift for many years. I went to get an alignment after the new tires and learned my lower ball joints need replaced. So in preparation of doing them my self and contemplating finishing out the SL lift while its apart, I started hitting everything with PB blaster and spotted what looks like a crack in the passenger torsion bar:

So now I'm really contemplating doing the rest of the suspension lift. I just cant decide if its worth the cost and what I get out of it.
If I do it, would anyone be willing to help if I supply a keg of homebrew beer?

Here's my rig:

Cheers,
Jeff

I'm not too familiar with first gens, but I'd be happy to wrench with you as long as I'm available.

Welcome back.

Unfortunately I know nothing about 1st Gens
Very nice looking rig though. Hope to meet you at an event.

Welcome back!

I actually have several spare T-Bars if you want one or a pair. $40/ Pair

You could get Calmini with more spring rate for a firmer ride which is what I'm running now.

I was able to get new lower/upper control arms for about 1/2 what it costs in town on line.

Even if you bought an aftermarket lift to replace the upper control arms you'll still use the factory lower control arms.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I was considering this option:
http://www.4x4parts.com/i-18981185-xterra-deluxe-suspension-package-w-5100-series-bilstein-shocks.html

I have 20% stiffer Bils that I installed probably 8-10 years ago so I might as well go all in

I was thinking of brewing a session IPA. Call it "Mod Day IPA."
