Title: Battery light plus E Brake Light??
Post by: Stoic V on October 04, 2016, 07:31:07 AM
I have been searching on the net, and everything is pointing to the Alternator.   Its on a 2012 Xterra...  Anyone else have this issue?

I can't say I've heard of that one. Have you checked and cleaned the battery terminals? How is the battery condition?

I cleaned the terminals the other day, and the battery is newer.

If its your terminals it wouldnt crank at all.
With the truck on what voltage you have at the battery?

Ideal battery voltage is 12v. With vehicle running ideal alternator output is 14v. This is easily found with a multimeter.
Does the E brake light stay on all the time? Check the brake fluid. Could be low setting off the light.

You guys where right.
I took the truck into the dealership to have them look at it.. I wanted to make sure the problem was gone before next weeks trip..
It ended up being two different things.    They said the brake fluid was real real real bad, and the battery terminals where corroded.  The alternator ended up being fine. .  $190 with an oil change.

The ex has been driving the truck for the last month or so, so the lights might have appeared at different times.  I was looking for a common problem, and the internet told me alternator..... Damn you internet....
