Title: Butcher Jones Cleanup 3/11/2017
Post by: pinchel (Rob) on January 26, 2017, 08:33:32 AM
Hello Trail Friends,

I went ahead and RSVP'd for AZXC, and whoever and whenever you guys show up or post, check here for details. We will have an area to scout and clean since we have access via 4wd/2wd that other volunteers may not.

Stay tuned...

Rob

=========================

We're announcing our first volunteer event for our OHV Area Restoration Project through the Off-Highway Vehicle Fund administered by the Arizona State Parks Board.

Join us Saturday, March 11th, 2017, for a Butcher Jones Cleanup. Help us spread the word and make this a HUGE event! Please share it with your friends and anyone who uses ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides, ROVs, sand rails, dirt bikes, trail bikes, 4-wheel drive vehicles, rock crawlers, dune buggies, and any other motorized vehicles. This is a great event for the entire family! Volunteers under 18 years old are welcome when accompanied and supervised by an adult.

This event is a way for various outdoor recreation groups to come together for a common cause, removing trash from natural areas we all recreate in. Butcher Jones Recreation Area is a popular destination that's close to the valley and offers something for everyone.

If you're a member of an OHV/4X4 Club or Outdoor Recreation Group and would like to head up a cleanup site, please contact us at contact@naturalrestorations.org.

Sign-in: 7AM-7:45AM
Safety Briefing: 7:45
Cleanup Starts: 8AM

Butcher Jones Recreation Site is a popular destination that's close to the valley and offers something for everyone. Not only is this an event for the OHV (Off-Highway Vehicle) Community, we also have opportunities for volunteers on foot and in the water. If you own a kayak or non-motorized watercraft, we have an opportunity for you to remove trash blown from Butcher Jones Recreation Area into Saguaro Lake. Let's remove it before it floats down to the Salt River. No kayak or non-motorized watercraft? No problem, we have plenty of opportunities for volunteers on foot to collect trash around the beach and parking lot.

*You do not need an OHV or 4x4 to participate, you can access the parking lot by car. Parking is limited, please carpool! Anyone with an 4x4 or OHV, please park past the cattle guard in the wash so we can free up the parking lot for cars and non OHV's.

This project is financed in full by a grant from the Off-Highway Vehicle Fund administered by the Arizona State Parks Board and is also possible due to the support of the Arizona Trail Association and the U.S. Forest Service - Tonto National Forest.

Ok, we can plan a group then, I'm going to try to bring my kids. We had a good time at other cleanups.

I'll guess we'll just see who shows up Saturday and go from there. There are areas that require or would be easier to get to with 4wd that are part of the cleanup. So post up if you can make it.

The cleanup organizers have reached out to us and asked if we had any trailers or trucks coming. Stephen?

This is why they were asking about a truck or trailer.

There are a few dump piles up the main wash on the left that we need people on, I will most likely have you guys hit that area unless the group doing the coves for some reason can't make it out. The coves amazingly aren't very trashed right now.
