I have not had the pleasure to meet a lot of you, with the exception of Pinchel. His daughter sold me some Girl Scout cookies, yes I am still carrying the weight from those damn cookies...

Well I just recently (10/11/2017) bought a newer to me Xterra, 2006 Xterra S 4wd in grey.  The Xterra was throwing a P0345 code when I picked it up. But this morning I swapped out both the cam sensors and via an OBD2 reader and app I was able to remove the code from the ECU.

Mechanically I need to get in and change out the timing chain tension parts as it sounds like a diesel till it warms up and the sound goes away. My buddy in Gilbert has power tools so I am going to order the parts and enlist his help, sorry Robert.

The stereo needs some attention too, the left side speakers do not work. I tried moving the fader around and no luck. But I am going to pull it out and take a look at it.

The brush guard is going soon too, I can't stand the damn thing but I will loose the driving/spot lights when I do. They will eventually get replaced with LED light bars either in the bumper or the roof.

As far as the suspension it is stock and feels so weird not being higher like I am in the 02 Xterra which is for sale $2500.

I have an 06 as well. Mine has 219,300 miles on it. It also needs the whining cam tensioners replaced. I ordered my parts kit from Amazon for about $95 shipped. It shipped from the Surprise Nissan dealer. I still need to get the flywheel locking tool. If you figure out how to lock the motor without the special $125 tool please let me know. As far as the stereo, search clubxterra.com website. Nissan has some funky ohm requirements if you have and are keeping the factory sub and amps. The sound from the factory radio (Rockford Fosgate) setup in my eyes is terrible.  Good luck

So after getting the DTC codes fixed. Driving to work, home and around town I have noticed a vibration in the steering wheel and the body. I am hoping that the vibration is from the front wheel bearings. They have never been replaced even by the OG owner.

According to the OG owner the U-joints have been replaced. It is a constant whir whir and felt through the steering wheel.

Hey I was wonder what everyone thinks of the different companies that are out there when it comes to lifts.

There are a few I am looking at:

First is the 4x4parts kit, http://www.4x4parts.com/i-18915791-deluxe-suspension-package.html

Second the PRG SAAL Delux Mini Kit, http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/x-saal-delux-mini-kit/

I kind of like the 4x4parts kit because it comes with shocks, but the price reflects that.

If there is something that I am missing feel free add your input.

I was looking at the lifts from Nisstec, I didn't see anything that compared to 4x4parts and PRG. If there is please steer me in the right direction.

I have heard there are SPC uca on rockauto selling under a different name maybe "mevotech" something like that for alot cheaper then SPC.

I looked around on RockAuto but didn't see anything. The ones I saw looked like factory ones to me. Also I have a lead on some PRO 4x suspension with shackles/spacers w/ 46K miles on them.

I seen that for sale on Facebook. Good deal.
I would still try and track down those UCAs best bang for your buck. Coil bucket contact can be annoying.

With what you saw in the FB post will I have any issues, mainly the coil bucket contact?

I dont think it will as bad. Just a good mod to gain a couple extra inches of down travel. I would start with the lift then move on to the uca

Do you guys/gals think it would be possible for these lights to fit the front bumper location in any capacity? They are probably bigger then the factory ones but I was thinking I might be able to make brackets or mounts for them.

Well I just picked up some OEM Pro 4X shocks (front/rear) with the Rough Country 2.5" spacers and some shackles for the rear. The OG owner took off the stock/OEM suspension at 42K miles and has been sitting ever since. Once I get a house and have a good place to work I will do a better lift...

The plan is to knock this out on Saturday morning before the wife wakes up. As she wants to go do something... Wish I put 2 and 2 together and seen the Clean Up for Saturday...

A big thank you goes out to Matthew of Gilbert for hooking me up and Stoic if you see this I still plan on buying your wheels.

So a little update. I have not installed the Pro 4X suspension yet. Looking for either someone with a compressor or an cordless impact gun.

Does anyone on here run any form of aftermarket headers?

I am looking at the following...

Doug Thorley long tube

A "No Name" long tube on 4x4parts.com

and the Twisted Steel tube headers on 4x4parts.com

For those that are running headers what are the pros/cons?

Replacing the front coilovers is a 3 hour job - 1 hour if you've done it before.  3 nuts up top, 1 on bottom, and the sway bar (times 2).  Torque spec on lug nuts is 98 ft-lbs - a 150 ft-lb torque wrench will handle that.  No need for impact wrench or compressor.  Dunno about the back - I've only replaced my shackles - not the shocks (yet).

This should be an easy mod-day event.  I would volunteer to help, but you live an hour away :(

Also, I'd be careful about 2.5" spacers unless you have weak springs.  I put in 700# springs (to support my 400# max carnage bumper) and had 1.5" spacer.  My UCA was hard up against the coil bucket and never moved - had to take out the spacer (H/T Eron).  So I've had some practice in front end disassembly/reassembly :)

I tried breaking the bottom shock bolts loose using hand tools with no luck. I did not spray the bolts that could be the issue. The shackles are not the real issue it is more the shock mount bolts and the rear sway bar. Does anyone know if the stud that is part of the endlink and goes through the sway bar if that is keyed for an allen  wrench?

As far as the spacers and springs. The setup I have now is stock Pro 4x Bilstein yellows.
