Title: Lower Salt River Cleanup - Sep 25th
Post by: AZ-Ted on August 26, 2010, 02:01:22 PM
Hello everyone.  Each year in September, a cleanup is held on the Lower Salt River.  I have contacted the Tonto NF Mesa district to get some more information about this year's cleanup.  It is usually held in conjunction with National Public Lands Day (which is on Saturday, September 25th).

As soon as the ranger in charge of the program contacts me, I will post up more information.  Currently, they do not have any information about this year's cleanup on the Tonto NF website.

EDIT:  This year's Salt River cleanup will indeed be held on Sep 25th.  The cleanup will focus on the shoreline, so if you do go, you should wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet.  Also, those with kayaks and rafts are encouraged to use those in the cleanup efforts.  Here is the website for this year's cleanup:

I heard back from the Mesa Ranger District.  There is a signup sheet on their Mesa Ranger District Volunteers website:  http://www.mrdvolunteers.org/saltriversignup.html (http://www.mrdvolunteers.org/saltriversignup.html)

The cleanup will focus mostly on the shoreline.  If you go, please wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet.  Also, for those of you with Kayaks, or rafts are encouraged to use them in the cleanup efforts.

I'll be there, and I noticed some people from AZVJC will also be attending.
