Title: Missing Offroader
Post by: AZ-Ted on July 27, 2011, 05:07:53 PM
Hello Everyone,

I got a text message from Brenda (DZRT X) about a local offroader that has been missing since 7/19/2011.  He has a 2010 Red Jeep Rubicon 2-door.  Here is the link to the VJC thread:

Man, bummer Ted. I'll keep an eye out down here. I Read all 14 pages of the thread. Totally sucks.Doesn't sound good.  I wonder if he would have headed this way for some strange reason?

Heartbreaking. Posted on the Facebook page:

"Dear Friends of Michael Grenley - it is with the deepest regret that I must inform you of the passing of Michael Grenley. We have taken great care to attempt to notify all close friends and family members via direct contact. Undoubtedly, some of you will have been missed. Facebook is not the ideal vehicle for communicating such difficult news. At the request and on behalf of Missy, we would like to express how grateful we are for the tireless search efforts conducted by friends, colleagues, community, and law enforcement. We are particularly grateful to the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team for bringing Michael home. This will undoubtedly be a long journey of recovery for the Grenley family. We request your understanding, patience, and privacy as the family grieves. To that end, we have suspended comments in this forum. A moderated blog has been established at http://fomgblog.blogspot.com/ for sharing your support of the family and rememberances of Michael. Please note that comments will not appear immediately (up to 24 hours) due to moderator pre-screening."

Sadly this didn't end well.  High centered on a boulder on a remote trail without any supplies and without his meds.  Here is the article:  http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/08/09/20110809glendale-missing-man-michael-grenley-found-dead-0809-abrk.html

From the description in the article, it sounds like he was on a side trail off the backroad to CK.
