I'm still in High School, and I think that it is sad that we feel like putting armed guards in all our schools.

America shouldn't have to defend its schools like this. Guards won't solve the problem and the Columbine shooting showed that it isn't an effective deterrent.

I like the article.  The fact that there is no real budget or training for these events is a huge problem.  If we were better prepared than gunmen would be less effective.  If they were less effective then it wouldn't make the news as much and gunman would be less motivated to be the next guy on the front page.

It was interesting that we never heard anything more about the gunman in the treelike behind the school on the day of the killings.  And it was even more interesting that Fienstien D-CA just happened to have her 86 pg bill proposal handy so that she could propose a bill in congress the following week.
