Title: 4/21 and 4/27 Meeting (Trail Rating 0 & 2)
Post by: Hammer (Avi) on January 21, 2013, 12:23:22 AM
It has been requested that we hold a meeting on the 21st during a mod day at Marcin's place.  As there are no issues currently on the agenda I have no issue with holding 2 April meetings.  If any issues are brought up we will take vote counts at both meetings and post the final vote counts on this thread.  This way more people will be heard, and there is more opportunity for new people to introduce themselves and meet people within the club.

That said, I will be attending both meetings and look forward to camping in Sedona.
The Sedona meeting will be held the evening of the 27th after the trail runs are complete.  I will be planning on 5pm but if the trail runs go long it may be later.

Camping spot will be off Schnebly Hill Rd and does not require a State Use Permit.

Here is the Google Maps (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=from:+Phoenix,+AZ+to:+34.89866,-111.65186&saddr=Phoenix,+AZ&daddr=34.89866,-111.65186&hl=en&sll=32.848119,-111.347015&sspn=1.216,2.469177&geocode=Fblh_gEdy-JR-SnLeaFQ7RIrhzGsG0o1-MdpjA%3BFeSCFAId7FNY-Q&t=h&z=8)

We will be running Broken Arrow Trail (Trail Rating 3) during the day Saturday as well as any other spots that may be suggested, so lets here some suggestions!

April should be good for Sedona, it'll be warm and we'll have plenty of daylight.

I've actually never been to Sedona, so I really want to go and check out all the back country ;D

Anyone more familiar with Sedona want to pipe in here.  I have camped around these spots http://goo.gl/maps/Cx4lS (http://goo.gl/maps/Cx4lS) I believe anything on the left of FR525 is ok to camp and have fires in.  Although, I am not sure if you need a red rock pass, I think I have gone before without one, but that was years ago and looking at the map the boundaries include this section.  Here is the Sedona red rock map http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zfcRhVaxtts/TvL7G3jb5jI/AAAAAAAAAEI/CEOvV1H_qYE/s1600/red-rock-big-map.png (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zfcRhVaxtts/TvL7G3jb5jI/AAAAAAAAAEI/CEOvV1H_qYE/s1600/red-rock-big-map.png)

Camping should be where CANVAZ camp site was.  Plenty of room there and its of Schnebly Hill Road.  Easy to find.

I love Sedona! The meeting sounds great...just hoping my schedule will alllow me to get there... having a random day of the week 3-12 hour shift night schedule and not a M-F 9-5 makes planning a little difficult so far in advance but if my schedule permits, I'd love to make it to my first meet...especially Sedona! Will there be trails for us minority 2wd X's too?!

Who determines what a product is listed at? I guess Marcin it seems. The definition of price gouging should probably be looked up and completely defined before people are accused of it. Ammo prices through the roof (3 to 4 times normal retail price) due to recent high demand after a US presidential election, price gouging.

$100 off original price on a used item which will most likely be even more after obo is negotiated on a product that has similar sale prices for the same product on thenewx.com which is a much bigger market of sellers and buyers. Not price gouging.

It's not just me saying that your prices are over the top; I'm just gonna say something just like if I did something not cool I would expect others to say it as well.

A review board should be established of the officers so if something comes into question then they decide. It's funny you're being so defensive on this, feel guilty about it or what?  Ask yourself would you pay the prices you ask?
Title: Re: 4/21 and 4/27 Meeting (Trail Rating 0 & 2)
Post by: sunny1881 on April 07, 2013, 01:23:27 PM
Guilty? For what, no I dont feel guilty for anything. I am defensive because appearently you have a personal vendetta against me, always questioning what Im doing, how about you worry about you and I'll worry about me.

Have I paid full asking price before, yes, but normally I negotiate the obo just like I expect people to do to me. If the item doesnt sell after a week or 2 I'll lower the price as I have done in the past.

Marcin, stop picking on people - and don't say it's coincidence that this is being brought up now. We can talk about it at the meeting, but the newspaper doesn't set a price range for items that people sell in ads in it, nor does Craigslist. So I'm just going to say that part of business is that a seller sets a price, a potential buyer makes an offer, then negotiation happens. I don't think we want any part of that, I know I certainly don't want any liability in people's personal transactions. My suggestion is we stay good and well away from that.

Back on topic, what time are we setting for the meeting and mod day on the 21st?
Title: Re: 4/21 and 4/27 Meeting (Trail Rating 0 & 2)
Post by: 11Pro4X on April 08, 2013, 11:58:41 AM
Rev if that is the case then anyone should be able to post up whatever they want about an item in that thread and not get it deleted.
Title: Re: 4/21 and 4/27 Meeting (Trail Rating 0 & 2)
Post by: Rev on April 08, 2013, 12:05:47 PM
But once we're involved then how much responsibility are we accepting on items that get sold? Does it then become our responsibility to mediate deals? What happens when someone buys something that turns out to be broken? If we're filtering ads doesn't it make it our responsibility to make sure the items are in the condition specified in the ad? If the seller disappears and the buyer is dissatisfied would we have to reimburse them?

There are a lot of legalities to consider when getting involved with how sales take place which is why most ad sources don't get involved at all. The best we can do is set rules as far as what kind of items are allowed to be posted and not allowed to be posted. As far as prices go I really think that's starting to cross some legal ground that we don't want to get into without some consultation.

Oh and what time are we setting for the meeting and mod day on the 21st?

Look at the agreement people agree to when they sign up for the forum.  This waives ALL liability of the club for anything that is posted on here, if its for sale or not so we have already broached the issue of "legality."

As for rules I believe there should be some if its even sell at your own risk and the club will not interfere with any post or set up something more stringent.  Thats up to the club.  Funny how everyone will talk crap about this individuals posts and pricing but no one has the balls to call him out on it like I have.

Funny how everyone will talk crap about this individuals posts and pricing but no one has the balls to call him out on it like I have.

Funny how everyone has such issues with my pricing but yet every item I have listed has sold except for one currently and pretty much all of them were negotiated behind the scenes through PM and seller and buyer were happy.

The club should have some rules regarding buying and selling, I certainly agree.

Here are thenewx rules for buying and selling for the club to have a starting point: I believe #4 in this situation is most important!

1) No spamming the forums or cross-posting. There is no reason to post the same thing in many forums. Cross posts will be all deleted at the moderator's discretion.

2) Thread bumps will be deleted from a thread at the moderators discretion. Please update your thread with pertinent information only.

3) This is not an auction, if you don't post a price or list what you wish to trade for, please use ebay, yahoo, or some other site to sell your stuff.

4) If you disagree with a posted price, DO NOT post your opinions within the buyers or sellers thread about how you can get it at a better price, etc., take it offline with the seller and refrain from flaming, arguing, or generating heated discussions.

5) Please indicate your location (city/State/Province, and zip/ postal code may be useful for shipping information.)

6) When a single item (out of many items listed for sale) sells, update the first post of the thread identifying as **SOLD** .

7) Remember, moderators are sometimes busy. Sometimes we do not read every post. If something is out of line, pm or email a moderator so that we can correct it without a flame war.

8) All classified ads MUST have list a selling price. The only exception to this rule is if you are parting out a car or making an ad w/ multiple listings. Even under these circumstances you still must list prices individually.

9) This isn't a place to charge considerably more or double the retail value of items being sold currently just because there is limited access. There are places like eBay for that.

10) Price hiking is not allowed based on amount of responses.

11) Once an item has sold, please update the end of your thread letting a moderator know it's sold so we they can lock the post.

12) The owners and moderators of the www.thenewx.org are not responsible for any sales that go bad. Buy and Sell at your own risk. If there is a dispute take it up with the person you bought or sold the item from. If we notice a trend from a seller or buyer or if you notice a trend, then email a moderator so we can have the problem taken care of.

I mine as well throw my two cents in here.  I may not think the pricing is reasonable for a specific item, but there may be wheeling and dealing on the side.  And even with that said, setting prices high is just a stance of trying to push for a higher price.  Frankly if his prices are too high, he wont sell his products.  But here is what it all comes down to, I don't want to police the website.  That is why I wont remove the comments that the price is too high, and that is also why I wont delete a for sale thread because I think the price is too high.  This has nothing to do with whether or not the price is too high, this has to do with how much policing I think is necessary.  If the club votes on price setting a current percentage off of retail, or if the club votes no opinions on for sale threads, I will enforce it.  As of now no such rules exist that I know of.  That said I wont tolerate threats or profanity, so keep it to name calling guys.

Don't plan anything special for me.  Besides, anything you plan would have to be a super wide trail.  I am about 90 inches wide in the front.

Also, can someone meet with Ted on their way up and pick up a wheel from him for me? I was supposed to pick it up from him at the Mod Day but he had something come up.

A heads up to everyone attending.  I will be heading up Friday evening, around 5.  So send me a PM if you would like to drive up as a group.  Also, we will start the trail run Saturday morning, I would like people to meet up at the camp grounds around 10, but we should be hitting broken arrow around 10:30-11 if you prefer to meet at the trail head.  Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

I'll be there for Broken Arrow, but I won't be spending the night.

Also, I borrowed Tacomatosis04's SWR meter but when I went to tune my CB antenna, I realized I didn't have the male-to-male coax cable that I thought I had that I need to hook everything up. So if I could borrow a male-to-male coax cable from someone before we hit the trail, that would be greatly appreciated.

He let me borrow the SWR meter. No cables. I thought I had all the cables I needed, but I was wrong. I need a short male-to-male coax cable.

The cable was right by the swr. Show up to the trailhead a few minutes early and we'll get it done.

I'll be there early and we'll get your CB working...sorry about the cable. Thought I gave it to you, no worries though.
