I came out on top. He bent the shit out of my rear recovery point, and tweaked the frame though.

Son of a! That had to be freaky as hell seeing something that big plowing into you through the mirror. Glad you're alright!

And that is kind of awesome that he took the most damage ;D

Is your X going to be repaired, or is the frame damage enough that insurance wants to total it? If the frame is bent past a certain point I know it can become unsafe (unstable driving in many situations due to the force applied to it when crawling and cornering, not to mention it takes hits worse.)

Hope whatever company owned that rig is treating you right and paying up.

I wish I had some warning :/  Guy hit me out of no where,  not sure on the damage, but it probably will not be totaled. The other Guy is actually claiming he doesn't have insurance.

My mom worked for Yellow Freight when I was a kid, so I spent a lot of time hanging around the docks and terminal. And from the truckers I know and the companies I've gotten to work with I can't believe that someone would be operating a commercial rig without insurance. The fine is huge for the company and the driver can easily have his CDL revoked. It is possible for a company to "forget" to include a truck or two on the insurance roster when switching to a new company (especially if they have thousands of trucks), but then that responsibility falls to the driver as part of the pre-trip checklist to make sure the vehicle he's about to drive is insured before departure.

If they try worming out of their responsibility without paying for your damages then we'll just have to picket their place with more fabbed bumpers ;D

Brett, that sucks! Rev is 100% correct. I guess if he's an owner/operator hauling produce out of Mexico, it might be hard to track down. But even so, they get checked at the border and at the scales. He's BSing you... If its an American company, it should be easy to track down.

Yeah that's what i've figured, He's got a casa grande address, so either something really shady is going on or probably more likely is he is just lying to save his job.

What's up Brent! glad to hear from you, Mild bit of whiplash, my neck is still sore (accident was only on thursday), but it's not really affecting me otherwise. All I know is for my first accident, it hurt pretty damn bad. Can't imagine what would have happened had he been going faster.

My dad and I took it to the body shop today, when the examiner was checking out the damage, he asked, so you just got bumped? I said no check underneath, the frames bent. The amount of damage to the body was really disproportional to the speed. We'll find out more i a couple days on what the plan of action is, whether they will pull the frame back into place, or just replace the whole frame.

That's still crazy that they have to work at all to track someone down. Shows how unprepared that company is. Glad it's all being taken care of though without affecting your pocket ;D

So I'm moved back into mesa, looking forward to start running some evens with you guys. Also, I've kind of decided I'd like to go for a 4x4 conversion as long as I can get the transfer case + diff for cheap enough. I've been spending some time with electronics and I know it would be pretty easy to come up with a circuit that can control a motor that will actuate the transfer case. Which I've always understood to be the hardest part of the IFS 4x4 conversion.

So Brett how did everything work out. You feeling better and is your truck still alive and kicking?

Yes I too I am glad it has worked , but not as expected. I had the same think happen to Mrs. ghost in Tempe AZ.  A Illegal Immigrant broad sided her Explorer. The woman hand a unsecured child that could of got hurt, no American DL, No Insurance and the car did not even belong to the woman.

The woman received 5 tickets, and a trip to see a Judge in downtown  Phx.  Ice or BP was never called because" Tempe PD dos not get involved in these issues."

Insurance paid and the Explorer was ruined forever. I feel your pain. :-[
