  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Gas skid plate went missing ???
« on: April 06, 2013, 11:00:51 PM »
So I decided to crawl under my truck today to tighten a few bolts on the skids and found that my gas skid is no longer there. There doesn't appear to be any evidence of stuff breaking off, so the next logical conclusion is that it managed to unbolt itself and fall off without me noticing. But... is that even possible? I have a hard time imagining that someone took it off, but still, I'd hope I would hear a large chunk of steel making its way from under my truck. Thoughts?

I lost my entire inner wheel well on a trial without noticing at all.  Granted it's plastic, but you would think it would make some noise ripping off.  Anyways, I didn't have a clue, so i could definitely see this happening.  Sucks dude.

When is the last time you had any work done to your vehicle?  The gas tank skid (stock and aftermarket) is not very easy to fall off without making any noise.

It's been a little while and it was only an oil change, but who knows, these are also the same guys that touched my radiator skid last and that needed some attention on the trail :)

True, I was thinking about that. Maybe in the racket of the radiator skid I didn't notice the other one. At the same time, there's always been someone behind me on that day, I'd hope they would notice a huge chunk of steel laying in the road!

Mystery all around.

They noticed it and now they have a new gas tank skid :p  Maybe you misplaced it, did you check your kitchen counter?  I leave stuff there all the time.

Being that it's in the back I could definitely see it falling off somewhere and not being that noticeable. The radiator skid is right in front of the driver so if it's rattling or falls off the noise is going to be much closer than if something falls off completely behind a vehicle.

Though I could also see it being taken off for some kind of maintenance like checking the fuel pump or any such things and then it not getting put back on.

In any case, definitely sucks. The next skid will be a better one though!
