  • ShockBlue_Scott: My neighbor works with a water jet and might be able to make skids for us. How many would be interested if he can? What is the normal thickness so I can give him an idea, also aluminum or steel?

Rear Suspension
« on: April 12, 2013, 12:43:40 PM »
I bought my X new in 08, first thing i noticed is the rear suspension is soft. I have heard some others complain about the same thing.
What is the fix for this. Most of the time it is not an issue, but the more I take it off road, the more i think about it.

Is the issue with the shocks, or springs or both?

Leaf springs are a bit soft. A cheap fix is a add a leaf that will help.

The springs are weak, typically we get some sag in the rear end.  I did an AAL and a shackle lift with my PRG advanced lift and ended up with a 3 or 4 inch lift in the rear.  So far that has worked really well for me.  The best solution depends on your needs.  AAL is probably the best cheap option, for towing air bags have some advantages.  In the end, when the leafs finally become flat, you should have some made for a little more lift and weight capacity depending on your needs.
