I do not. I have been researching them though. I think I want a hand held one or a mobile one that plugs into the cig lighter.

Just a cheap one and an 3-4 foot mag mount antenna. If you want we can install it in your console fri in about a hour. I have all the stuff. What seems to work well is the Midland 1001LWX and its cheap about 40 bucks

Might work for me, I'll have to double check the schedule. Another option for going up the backside of the mountain is to go through Redington and loop around toward San Manuel then up.  I found a new way to do that recently with some fun mild 4x4 trails.

thats sounds good to and alot less gas than going up the mt. but is there any of our 2wd members going alot of places in redignton have scattered washboard on them that's tricky without at least the front wheels moving.

Im not really sure what your saying here.  My option was to go through Reddington, then use a 4x4 only trail to link up to the road up the backside of the mountain so we can continue to the top.

Not sure what you mean by washboards though.  Are you saying that washboarded road require 4x4???

I miss read when u said another option to going up the mountain i thought u meant another option other than going up the mt my bad and washboard has different meaning a lil where i was born in florida and a quick google search makes me understand how u could be confused washboard would not require a 4x4

I'd rather not exclude our 2WD members from this event since we're planning this out well in advance. I don't mind something a little challenging with a few opportunities to get stuck, but climbing over big rocks and such might be a little much for some people who'd otherwise consider going.

I'd say let's get an easy run in to gauge what we've got in the area and then we can plan something more challenging for next month or so.

Hope that sounds cool ;D

The route I am talking about is not challenging at all.  Just a few loose hills that require some a little more traction than 4x4.  We can always wait and see if any 2wd's are planning to attend.  If not then we can give it a go if everyone wants to.

The trail is 2 track and slowly climbs up from the San Pedro Valley up onto the mesa.  The road is bumpy but not horrible.  You do have to cross a BIG canyon with a really steep descent into it.  Not sketchy just STEEP!  Once you cross the canyon you pop out on a good dirt road that shoots you up to the Mt.Lemmon control Rd.

Nope, its more like the easy two track we took into the Chivo Falls area.  The part from the main road down to the creek.
