Backroad to Crown King Run Saturday June 15th
« on: June 08, 2013, 05:38:03 PM »
So my co-worker who is the President of Copperstate4Wheelers is hosting a run Saturday June 15th, Backroad to Crown King. For those of you who don't know Copperstate4Wheelers they are the club that host/coordinates the Four Peaks Cleanup every fall, they are a club that welcomes all wheelers not just Jeeps although most of them are Jeep owners, I have wheeled with them a few times in the past and are a great group of people.

With that being said all AZXC, AZFC and AZTC people are welcome, the run for Copperstate is technically a 2 day run, Backroad to Crown King Saturday then camping somewhere and then a small run on Sunday as well, then head home Sunday afternoon. I will just be running Saturday to Crown King, have lunch, a brew or 2 in the CK Saloon and head home from there.

Meeting spot is the usual Chevron gas station at I-17 and Carefree Highway at 8am, hope to see a few of you there.

***ALERT*** MEETING TIME HAS CHANGED TO 8AM

Here is a link to Copperstate's calendar for a little more details: http://www.copperstate4wheelers.com/Calendar.html

By the way, Crown King sits at an elevation of ~5900 feet and generally the temperature is 15-20 degrees lower than the valley, so far the High for next Saturday there is listed at 86 degrees.

This trail has obstacles that are pretty good but has bypasses for all of them. As long as you are 4wd you can do the trail just not most of the obstacles. Sheeet, we got a long wheelbase Titan 2wd through it in January on the AZXC 2013 Kick Off Run and there was snow on the trail the last few miles and was actually snowing when we rolled into CK.

I am 99% confirmed as going! Hopefully this won't be TOO adventurous and will be able to make it back for the Bloomin' Beerfest at the Irish Cultural center in Phoenix in the evening :)
