  • PitSnipe (Kyle): Wow, I have not heard of this issue. 15 hour job for a $50 part is nuts. Hopefully someone that knows of this issue will speak up.

  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Vet new to the X world.
« on: September 16, 2013, 09:46:23 PM »
Just give myself a little intro, I'll try not to ramble on now! Well, bought a 06 Spec V Sentra in Germany (stationed there last 2.5 years) & traded that in to get the wife a new Fusion, meanwhile I took over her first gen '04 X now. We're both out of the military now and living where I was born and raised, good ol' AZ. I would hope this worlds as welcoming as the other nissan life I was in! It's basically stock, and 2WD, but still theres hope I see.

So far all I did was little pointless mods, took off trim, beat dents out of the front quarter panel and rear bumper (some dude hit the car in the parking lot "no ones fault" said the MP's. Yah.) sanded & painted the bumpers, headlight housing, and the roof rack. (Went between bumper coating, Matte Black Rustoleum, and some high performance Rustolem, definitely diggin' how the shades look together.)

Did my research, suppose I'm looking at PML (torsion crank & shackles) and 32's for starting. Or Maybe 33's, I'm hearing mixed reviews on those fitting with that. Not tryin' to trim too much yet.

Anyway, I'm just here to introduce, so I look forward to learnin' about my X, and hittin some trails pretty soon.

Welcome to the club. Nice to have a first gen among us. Rosie, Jack, and Whipiv all have first gens. I'm sure they can provide some direction. Looking forward to seeing some pics of your rig.

Welcome to the club. If you have any questions feel free to message me. Like pitsnipe said, there's a few people that you can get info from about the 1st gens. To be honest I have no knowledge about them at all.

Thanks for your service and will see you at meet and greets/on the trails.

Welcome! There's lots of prior military on here, I'm still active duty myself.

Just for reference, I have wide 32's on just the PML and I have a lot of rubbing on the frame when I do full turn. I suppose you could stuff 33's under there but you'd have to grind a lot of frame. It's been done, but if you want tires that big, I'd get the body lift. Tall and skinny tires might ease the rubbing a little, but definitely not all the way. Good luck with the truck! 2WD can do plenty, especially when it's dry... which is most of the time!
