  • PitSnipe (Kyle): Wow, I have not heard of this issue. 15 hour job for a $50 part is nuts. Hopefully someone that knows of this issue will speak up.

  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

What truck to buy?
« on: September 10, 2013, 10:18:32 PM »
My X will be sold and gone by Friday.

So I will be buying a new truck. Originally I was gonna buy a Brand New 2013 Ram Quad Cab 1500 5.7L V8 and may still but some people have given me mixed reviews...I was going Ram because that is the only truck Brand New that I can afford as you can get one basically for $28k-$29k out the door. Cant afford over $30k which any new Silverado or F-150 is definitely $35k+++

So here is what I need/looking for/want: Only 2wd, 1/2 ton (yes just 1/2 ton, it will be my dd and I don't need 3/4 or 1 ton), 2009-2014, less than 50k miles(the lower the better obviously) 4 door/CrewCab, bigger motor as I will tow Frontier with it a few times a year. Gas not interested in diesel. Basically for $28k or less.

So what do you all suggest?

Im sure I will get a lot of opinions here but that's what I want so It will help me narrow down my search.

I'll keep that in mind.

go with a Chevy or GMC.  The only good thing about dodge is their engines.  I don't know if they have changed it but their bodies used to be wicked half assed and very fragile.  Especially if you are towing.  Chevy GMC and even Ford are going to be more reliable and dependable.  Just my 2 cents

I'd stay Japanese. They know their stuff better than the american companies IMO.

You can get a brand new Tacoma 4x2 Prerunner double cab with a V6 for around $26k.
If you want a little cheaper and a little less nice, you can always go with a Frontier too. Lots of options for a double cab with v6 under $30k.

I'm sure you can also get a pretty speced out version of either of those pre-owned with under 15k miles for under $30k.

I would get a used Tundra... can easily be had for sub-30k. Unless you are looking for fancier models with options.

Wow !!! I can't believe I'm on a Nissan club page and no one has said a Titan. I thought he was going for a diesel. If I could read I would have seen he was looking for gas.  ???

Not a Titan because the interior is same as X and I would feel I didnt really get a new vehicle, lol.

I may go Tundra, my buddy has one and its nice, I want low miles so hard to find for $24k because after tax, title, license, warranty, its another $2k-$4k, trying to be at $28k or less no more.

Titans are BAMFs! my buddy had one (granted it was brand new) and the thing was sick. He said they had amazing warranty and costumer service.

I have owned two ford f 150's and my current dodge, 2003 , quad cab 4x4 hemi pre mds cylinder shut down, 167000 miles and going strong, I would by another dodge again in a heartbeat.  and my stock dodge has done almost every trail the x has except for sunflower mine, stock...my f 150's were nice just seemed small to me. Go with your gut, you know we are all biased here Sunny, and my opinion is a vehicle is as reliable as you are about taking care of it.
