Veteran's Day 2013 Trail Ride
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:46:23 PM »
It was great to get out and explore new terrain. Nice turn out of four vehicles as we made the trip just west of Gila Bend. The Oatman Massacre site was first.  Boy was it dusty out there. We then headed into the Gila River basin and found the Oatman Burial site. Its unreal the story of what happened out there with the Oatman family. Last we checked out the Petroglyphs site. It was a great day. No break downs and Rosie was a great trail guide.

Here are some of the pics that I took.

My daughter enjoying the dirt

That is a cool place, the wagon wheel marks in the rock, and the history, well worth the run down there.  Another short, but scenic trail is Margie's Cove Trail, about 20 miles south of I-10 on 85.  Old rancher and mine remnants scatter the area.

Hey, does anyone know if the Butterfield Stage Route Trail has been Re-Opened?  I've wanted to run that trail for years, but back in 2009 BLM closed it to let the area heal for from misuse.
