  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Glad I found you guys! I was an avid hunter in my youth and always had a 4x4. A number of years ago I traded in my bow for a camera but that hasn't diminished my need for a four wheel drive vehicle. In 2010 bought a new Xterra Off-Road and it has served me well. It's still a stock Off-Road Xterra but I plan to make several modifications next year, starting with a ShrockWorks Rock Slider and then a ShrockWorks front bumper. I've never been much of a wrench turner so it will be great to have such a knowledgeable group as a resource.

I'm a Boeing 787 captain by profession but I live for my hobbies. Photography has been a passion for most of my life and recently I've become involved in using aerial drones (quad-copters) as a photography platform. I look forward to meeting everyone and can't wait for my first run!

Welcome to the club!

Ive seen some amazing videos that were made with a quadrocopter and a GoPro. I've never used one, but they really are interesting platforms.

Welcome to the club.  The Shrockworks products are top-notch.  Just an FYI, there can be long lead times when buying from Shrock, as they produce their products in small batches.  Nevertheless, the wait is definitely worth it.  As you add weight (with bumpers, sliders, and skid plates), you'll want to consider suspension upgrades, as well.  For that, I recommend PRG Products.  They, too, can have long lead times, but their products are second to none.

Another great resource for second gen Xterra information is thenewx.org.  That site is a national Xterra forum, and has a wealth of information about your vehicle.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to hear that others think highly of the ShrockWork products and appreciate the info regarding the long lead times. I'm planning to participate in the January CK run and look forward to meeting the gang.

I'll just give Mark a call and ask him if he will adjust the balance to the group rate. When is the group order being placed?
