Rear dif leaking
« on: November 19, 2013, 03:13:45 PM »
Well it seems as though its time to change my rear dif gasket. So i figured i would also change my dif cover at the same time. Do you guys have any suggestions on a good one?

Blue torch fab. You just missed the ballistic group buy on thenewx but that's a good thing because everyone is having problems. You could also go shrock but I don't think you want to wait that long if it's leaking.

What problems are they having with BTF? Shipping?

I would say go with BTF as they are stout and beefy unless there is a new design issue. I had a Shrock and got it in 2-3 weeks so not bad, call Shrock they will tell you if they some in stock to ship or an ETA if not. If its leaking its got to be a small amount they don't just start spewing fluid unless you banged a big ass boulder and had a big failure and/or dent/bend in it, etc...

Ya looks like I tagged a rock not bad just seeping right now. So I do have some time. I've heard the BTF are have some sort of sealing issue and lining up.

BTF (Blue torch fab) and Ballistic Fab are two different companies. They both have known to have a few "oops products" in every batch. Ballistic Fab just came out with the Xterra Diff cover and a lot of people are having problems but everyone is getting sorted out. So if you do receive a bad one, atleast it wont take a long time to have it exchanged.

Looking at the group buy thread people are currently still having issues with the covers.  I am interested in a rear diff cover as well since mine has been pealed back like a sardine can by a rock.  Not leaking yet, but I am sure another hit would do it.

The Shrockworks diff skid kicks ass.  I've had mine on since 2007, and I have scraped it over a crap load of rocks.  There have never been any issues with my cover peeling back.

Offroads models have the M226 and Xterras with manual transmissions have the M226.

The rest have the C200.

Thanks Ted some day we will meet. When i looked last night it looked like an M226. Last Nov. I had an accident and had my rear dif replaced and they told me it was a OEM replacement but couldn't confirm which one. I looked again this morning and you are right C200.
