  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Oh hey!

So I got approved for the site a couple of weeks ago, but have been so busy with the holidays that I forgot to post! Woops!

I just purchased my brother's 05 Xterra, totally base model - not even power windows! Ha! I super love it already, and have even taken it around Four Peaks! It's a dirty, dented brown now, but I plan to plasti-dip some of the sun-damaged pieces, wheels, and maybe step it up with a grille guard.

My other half is part of a Subaru club, so I'm excited to get into my own thing and learn more about my amazing piece of machinery!

Happy Holidays, all!

Welcome from Phoenix!  Is the damage on your driver's rear door from 4 Peaks, or was it already there?

BTW, if you are going to offroad your vehicle a lot, you may want to remove the mudflaps (at least the rears) before they break off.

Thank you, PitSnipe! I'm definitely looking forward to roughing it up a little!

That's awesome, Slapshotking09! Where about are you? I'm just east of the 101 on Shea. Do you know any good places for my sissy 2WD monster? I super love the north-east so far.

And thank you AZ-Ted! All the damage was already there - my brother doesn't believe in taking care of vehicles. I don't mind though. I hope to put my own AZ pin-striping on the thing. Ha! I don't know about offroading "a lot," but I'll definitely take them off just in case. I bet it would look taller, too.

You guys are awesome. Thanks!

Welcome.
I love the front grill on that year.
BTW, if you are going to offroad your vehicle a lot, you may want to remove the mudflaps (at least the rears) before they break off.
I have to agree with this, like most others will.. I went offroading the other day and hit my back mudflap hard.  Luckily it didnt break.  Im taking off my back ones soon, the front ones will come off later. (after I get my sliders.)

Nice!

I'll definitely take the mud flaps off. I think it will look taller too,  so it will work out nicely. I really like the body style of the 05 - it's so aggressive,  which is totally me. I'm looking forward to blacking everything going out and making it look real mean, even if it's only a 2WD.

I went to Rio Verde over the weekend and bumped into some wild horses! Good things happen to those who Xterra!
