What do you want to see in 2014? (Meetings/Trails)
« on: January 05, 2014, 12:01:55 PM »
Alright so for 2014 what do you wanna see for AZXC?

Our usual scheduled events

Gonemoab (May)
Broken Arrow (Flagstaff)
Backroad to Crowne King
Sunflower Mine
Overland Expo (May in Flagstaff)
Tucson camping
Chili cook off
Mod Days (usually colder months due to weather in summer time)

Do you wanna see more get togethers or meetings? Maybe actually having an agenda at meetings instead of it always being at a Mod Day and not a lot to talk about? Or a get together and do something social?

Looking for input here. If you know of other trails/events that you wanna see AZXC run/attend speak up!

I am planning on bringing back the Newsletters soon as well.

Post up!

I know very few trails, but would love to get to know a few more. So that's my input :) Maybe Flagstaff area while it's still cold? I had a blast last time I went through there. Overnight stay (probably not camping!) would work too for that.

I'd love to see us sponsor a trail cleanup this year.  It doesn't have to be as big as the one we did at TM back in 2010 (385 Volunteers and 15 tons of trash), but it would be great to do another one...

It could be something as simple as filling up my trailer.  Once it is filled, everyone can wheel afterward.

I like the idea of doing a clean up, with the nice weather a mod day would be good.

Has BLM reopened 532 back to 42 and that spot on the Verde river, out by Bartlett Lake?
AZXC used to have biannual cleanups there, after labor day and then again after memorial day..

Ted I'm on board with you on this one. I think you know the BLM and tread lightly the best on this forum. When you hear wind of one let me know and I'll post up and try to get as many people out there as possible. There's a Flag 4X4 clubb as well and I know some guys up there that would want to join in as well.

Since I just got a new X and been out of the club for a while, I'd be up for most anything.  I just want a chance to meet up with you folks and get to know you.
Is Box Canyon and the Coke Ovens still open to off-roading?

Box Canyon, yes for sure.

Coke Ovens is private land and some people say no, some people say yes, but another club I wheel with said legally the land owner if they do not want people on there land, signs must be posted "do not enter" or "trespassing", etc... There are no such signs and a lot of people including clubs such as AZVJC, Az4x4club go there all the time without issue. They also mentioned that someone(who knows who) said they spoke to the land owner a few years back(who doesnt live in Az) and he said he is fine with it as long as the land is not being abused, trashed, etc... Appearently he said he comes to Az every 1-2 years to take a look and has friends in Az that look for him as well and so far so good.

Now this is all just what I have heard from another club I frequent, make your own decision.

Next opportunity I get I am and will run the Coke Ovens trail.

I just joined the club in December and would love the opportunity to participate in any scheduled event. I was really looking forward to the January Crown King run but a last minute conflict kept me from attending. The weather is so nice this winter, it would be great if we could schedule another run or two before the summer inferno arrives!

Frank, you can certainly start a thread for a run, pick a trail, a day, a meet up time and place and post it.

IF YOU POST IT THEY WILL COME!  :D ;D

As a new member I would like to meet others in the club.  Are meetings scheduled on a regular basis?

We generally hold at least one event a month.  Sometimes it is a trail run, others a mod day, or chili cook off.  Just check the forum.  We just had a trail run in Sedona, and a couple members are going camping next week.  We will be planning another event soon :)
