Meetup on 2/22/14! (OP updated 2/9/14 - Broken Arrow run!)
« on: January 17, 2014, 09:20:20 AM »
Hi all! I just received confirmation that 'Surf & Snow' and 'Travzilla' from thenewx.org site will be coming down to visit over the 2/21-2/24 weekend! I met a few people over the 2014 kickoff run that expressed interest in meeting these guys while they are here, so I wanted to put a meet together asap.

I'm thinking lunch on Saturday at the 22nd. Is there a spot AZXC meets usually work best? If not, I'll pick some place within a week or so.

2/9/14 - Update

We are set to do a Broken Arrow day run

Meetup time: 8:30am

Location: The Chevron Gas station just off of the I17 and Carefree Highway.

The following have said they are going:

Hammer
Rosie
HBIII
SlapshotKing
AZ Ted
XID
Tacomatosis04
Rushnrockt

Twin Peaks on Camelback and 20th would work.  They have plenty of parking, and they will be showing the UFC170 fight that night.

Funny you say that. They mentioned interest in doing a day run too. I'm down for whatever.

Who is up for a day run? I wouldn't have an idea where since I am still new to the area.

If the run doesn't work, Twin Peaks on 20th St and Camelback is perfect as we will be very close to it.

Day run is gaining traction  ;D

Let's plan on that first. Again, I have no idea where to go so if you have a suggestion and are willing to lead go right on ahead.

Sheep's Bridge is a fun trail.  If you run it from the East side of Table Mesa, be sure to get a State Trust Land Permit, as much of the trail is on state land.

Give yourself a minimum of 4-6 hours for that run.

These guys are traveling a quite a ways, although from what I remember back on Newx, S&S is usually on the road anyhow.. I say Broken Arrow. Sure, we've driven it 101 times (well, I have), but there's a reason a whole industry (4wd tours) popped up there and runs like it does. Nowhere else in the states (Moab excluded of course, and our rocks are prettier) can you get traction like that in scenery like that.
Just sayin'..  8)
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..
