Rear Diff Breather Mod
« on: February 01, 2014, 11:33:01 AM »
Pretty simple but thought I'd put it up anyway.

1. Pick these two parts up from Toyota Dealership
Toyota 90930-03136: 5/16” Barb
Toyota 90404-51026: M10 x 1.00 Thread Pitch, 1/4” Barb

2. Pick 10-12 of 1/4" Inner Diameter tubing from ACE.

3. Pick up 2 small hose clamps

4. Remove right rear tail light assembly (2 bolts, then pry gently as there are two plastic clips)

5. Run tubing behind bumper along frame rail and over exhaust heat shield. Ziptie as necessary.

6. Put new filter on taillight side.

7. Secure to tail light assembly using existing clips.

8. Remove breather from axel housing.

9. Fit tubing over breather, secure with small hose clamp.

Used the pics from thenewx website.

THIS WORKS WITH A M226 AXLE. I AM NOT POSITIVE IF IT WORKS WITH A C200K AXLE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR X.

OME is a one way "blow off valve" which stands maybe 1.5" over the axle. It's designed to let pressure (gasses) out when built up, and re-seal when none present. When I did this mod years ago,  I ran the tubing up into my brake light housing and topped it w/ a small fish tank filter. Sometimes I go in deep water..
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..

In the unlikely even that anyone reads this post, THE PROPER PART TO BUY is Nissan 38323-C6010. It can be found online, or my local Nissan dealer sold it to me for $4.50. The nipple fitting stem is 3/16" wide (or whatever the metric equivalent is), so 3/16" inner diameter fuel line would be best. So, readers of the future, buy the following:

- Nissan part number 38323-C6010
- 3/16" inner diameter fuel line x 8 ft long
- small hose clamp
- Whatever filter thing you want to put on the top end of the fuel line.

It's real easy.  I have filters (bought a bag of 5) if you need one.

I think they use clear fuel filters

So many options, AZGeorge, have you checked your filter to see if it's collected any water? I've seen videos of people using those, probably in less arid conditions and they seem to collect moisture. This mod is on my list, but I was planning on putting the oem cap on the end.
