3/8/14 Camping Trip *Rescheduled!
« on: February 05, 2014, 06:42:23 PM »
Hey everybody!

So I'm wanting to get in a camping trip here in a couple weeks, I'm thinking Saturday March 1st. Most likely head up in the morning/early afternoon and stay that night. I'm not totally set on a spot yet but right now I'm considering the Mingus Mountain area by Jerome. It'll be chilly! Area: https://maps.google.com/maps/myplaces?vpsrc=6&ctz=420&ie=UTF8&ll=34.722708,-112.178221&spn=0.040705,0.084543&t=m&z=14&iwloc=lyrftr:starred_items:102584363766425752165:,34.71385*,-112.176187,34.713854,-112.176204

Who's in? I'm all about caravaning to the spot if there are a few people interested in coming along. If you have other campsite suggestions go ahead, I was thinking either Prescott or Tonto Forests.

I would like to make this. Barring any setback from my two jobs or my very pregnant wife.

No way I can swing this. February is a busy month for me and won't be able to get this off.

I want to go, but not sure if I can yet. Friend of mine is possibly flying down from Portland to see me. If he doesn't book a ticket I'm in.

Damn once again it's on a Saturday :(  I wish I could ask for those days off when something happens, but I do programs on Saturdays and there's almost no way in heck I can get them off.  It'd be a fun time though.

Aren't you in Flagstaff? The campsite is gonna be way closer to Flag than it is to Phoenix. We'll be there all night so you're welcome to pop down and say hi, if you can't come out and camp too. No reason to take the day off for a night event unless you work nights haha.

I'll look up the distance.  I've driven to Prescott before for an appointment and it took me 2 hours.  I see it's not exactly in the town, it's in the outside area, so like I said, I'll look up the distance and how long it'll take to drive down there.

Okay so that's 66 miles, definitely do-able.  What are your plans while you're there?  Doing any night trails or anything like that?

Not sure yet. I havent gotten any firm "yes" from people really but hopefully will by next week. My plan is to sit back, have a fire, drink beer and talk. Lol.

Update, so it looks like myself, WHPIVxterra and rushnrockt are the only ones going right now.

We'll try to find a spot somewhere along this road to set up camp. I want to leave Phoenix around noon on Saturday, to get there early to hang out and set up before sundown. Hike around and maybe find some geocaches or something.

https://maps.google.com/maps/myplaces?vpsrc=6&ctz=420&ie=UTF8&ll=34.722708,-112.178221&spn=0.040705,0.084543&t=m&z=14&iwloc=lyrftr:starred_items:102584363766425752165:,34.71385*,-112.176187,34.713854,-112.176204

Well crap, I just checked the weather and it looks like it may rain in Jerome next weekend. I'll keep an eye on the forecast this week.

I need this trip badly. I am using it as an excuse to clean everything inside my truck!
