« on: March 06, 2014, 12:34:44 PM »
Some of the new pics are on different parts of the forums.

Near Cherry, AZ 1-08-2014
While waiting on the sun to rise, to start my hike, I took a couple pics.

North West of Lake Pleasant. 2-05-14

Heading back to the X after the hike.

Pine Mountain Loop.  02-23-14. This hiking trip, turned more into an offroad trip.
Went in at Bloody Basin, went on a small hike, headed up to Dugas road to Verde Hot springs, then back down to Bloody Basin rd and them home. 100+Miles  GPS link below.

Thanks guys.
The road trip turned out to be a great trip.  There where a couple downers.  I routed the whole trip around a hike in Zion. This hike I have wanted to do for a long time. By the time my sister and I had our dates figured out,  all the hiking spots where full.  They do a last minute lottery draw for this hike, the bad news we didnt get picked.  I guess I will have to make another trip up there for this hike :)  I also wanted to do more offroad trails in Arches National Park.  The main spots in Arches gets full quickly. If you drive the back roads, you get away from the crowds.  Plus you get to see some arches that a lot of people dont get to see. Not directly blaming my sister, but we didnt get an early start in Arches. I guess I will have to go back there also.....
Alstrom Point is a very cool spot to camp.  There where boats on the lake firing off fireworks all night long.

Would you mind sharing your travel route? I'm planning a family trip from Phoenix to Boulder, CO in July and your info would help immensely. TIA

A quickly drew this up. It has some of the key points we hiked or visited.
http://hikearizona.com/map.php?MY=7425&M=3
I hope this link works, you shouldnt have to register at the site to view it.

There is also a drive I did back in December. Phantom Canyon, in Colorado.  Very easy route, with out snow and ice. Its an old railroad track turned into a road. Very easy grades, with some scenic views and some Colorado history.   Its not on this map, you can Google it.
I have to get to work, but if you have any questions, you can PM me or post here. I have some other ideas that might work for you.

Here is a Facebook link to the pictures of the whole trip.

Im not real keen on facebook and how it works. You should be able to see some more pictures of the trip, without adding me as a friend.

The roads up to Alstrom Point are very nice roads.  Once you get on to Alstrom point, it gets a little rough.   I have a stock truck, and didnt have any issues.  If you take it slow you shouldnt have any problems.  I think there was only one spot where ground clearance was close.
