Pending Road Trip in July to Boulder, Colorado
« on: April 30, 2014, 08:36:37 AM »
Ok, this is more of a feedback post, but if it ends up being something coordinated then that's cool too.

We are planning a trip in July, no dates set but it we are planning a week off, and intend for most of it to be in Boulder, CO.
However, as many of you know there are plenty of road excursions opportunities between here and there. I was hoping for some help on that. Keeping in mind our Xterra is in need of some maintenance, should be done within the week. Hoping that gets it up and running well. Other than that the X is stock, so nothing crazy.

Just a nice family road trip. So who has suggestions?

Otherwise, the wife expects the trip to be in the sedan. :)

Well, I am not familiar with any of that area. Being stock may limit you a little, but I wouldn't let that stop you. I'd do some research of the area and maybe talk to some of the CO guys on The New X and see what's out there. Personally I would take the sedan being how gas prices are so high. I know you'll kick yourself in the butt if you take the sedan and end up finding trails up there.

I am also taking a road trip this summer. Driving back to Wisconsin and taking two weeks total. I'd love to take the X, but its just not financially possible. The X gets 15mpg and my Durango is getting 23mpg. That's a no brainer when your driving 1800 miles.

Good luck with your journey and take plenty of pics.

Yeah, that's the thing. Gas mileage. We'd love to stop and take pics on the way and get there quickly. At the same time, taking the X might be fun to, unless we break down. lol Adventure time then!

So I am researching...

That stinks man,  we took ours 2 weeks ago and it was a blast.   Turned a ton if heads and don't even have a ton of beefy mods ( lift and bigger tires), but those will be in the works soon.  i
IA has a massive shortage of xterras,  I maybe saw 3 Gen 1 xterras the entire time in IA

That sucks.
I guess this gives you more time to reseach stuff to do for next year.

Yep, plus hopefully by next year or GONE MOAB, we'll have a lift and such.
