Removed the front sway bar today because it was affecting the steering, as the bushings are toast. Also, wrapped up a busted inner cv boot with plastic wrap and duct tape until it can get repaired. Added a bumpstop to the cb antenna. Removed one wheel lock ( it is now stuck in the removal tool). And lastly have diagnosed that most likey our veer right is due to a front passenger brake issue, and not a bent crossmember or swaybar.

geesh

Put the sway bar back on with new end link and bracket bushings. Seems much better now, just gotta fix the brakes and upgrade the shocks.

So, I crawled under the X to check on the clicking/popping noise, nothing visible. So I greased the stops, (Not sure that was gonna do much, but on one of the other xterra forums they did that), checked for anything loose and more broken boots. None, other than the other which was already known.

Then I removed the rear sway bar just for kicks. Now it's already out of the way for the new Bilsteins...

Well mine doesn't have them any more, took them all off. It was the source of the knocking noise.

How is the drive with the front removed? Im considering removing the front and rear but a little worried since I drive 75mph daily on the highway to and from work.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Mine have both been removed for quite some time now. Your not really going to notice the rear. The front will take some getting used to. The body will roll a lot more. Should have any issues driving that fast. 75-80 is my normal freeway speed.

It def tests your comfort level, I would recommend against any quick maneuvers.  I DD with mine off on 34s and I don't feel its unsafe.

In a straight line, no. With the front off at 75-80 mph, a sudden steering change will bring the pucker.
Also, at speed on long turns, it feels like the truck is riding off the frame.

Take off your rear, ditch it. Leave on your front if you don't wheel every weekend..
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..

So after 6 or so months I finally dusted off my lift kit and started wrenching.
  • PRG Advanced Coilover Kit
  • Removed rear sway bar
  • Added 1.25" hubcentric spacers
  • Rear dif breather

Hopefully next few weeks when time allows CB, new rear diff cover, skid plates, struts for hood.

I got my Transmission  Skid plate last week. I am using the OEM oil pan and linking it to the Transfer  skid Plate.

I am trying to keep this build light

Did a little PM last weekend.  Plugs, Synthetic Oil Change, Cleaned Air Filter and gave her a bath.  She is loving her new garage as well.

Last couple weeks I finished my CB antenna mount install and wiring and went and bought and installed some Molle packs on my panels.
