No, it's hollow inside.  It's an oxygen sensor extension, and it keeps the sensor away from the exhaust flow.  This helps keep the check engine light off.

Very interesting. I have not heard of this fix.

I wouldn't call it a fix...it's more of a workaround, but so far so go.

When I had my 8th gen civic Si we had to run the same thing they called them O2 bungs. They fool the sensor into thinking the cats are there when you remove them so you don't have your CEL. You can also remove the CEL with a tuning program.

I spent most of the week before I got sick tracing some fluid leaks. Replaced a bunch of clamps and tightened many. Leaks seemed to have stopped for now.

Also removed the brush guard,  and kinda fixed the stock horn since the horn kit I bought was a fail.

Wired in a auxiliary fuse box today.

Does this have a cover?

So I wired in the fuse box. Rewired my siren and bumper lights to the box. Maybe by the weekend I will have my roof lights wired to it too.

Oil & filter change, changed it to 5w-40, replaced the oil pressure switch and gave it some Blue Devil Rear Main Sealer. It's running so smooth...and so far no oil pressure light.

I kind of figured. Is it on there all the time? I have/had lot's of those plastic cans saved up and I'm always looking for ways to reuse them. I've also been trying to think of a way to protect the starter on the 1st gen, mine has been replaced a few times due to product failure and the last one the shop didn't put it together very well, so it's exposed more than it should be.

I actually forgot it was on there, but since it doesn't rub or interfere with anything I just left it. It's been there for almost a year. Maybe more now that I think about it. haha

I use those coffee containers for all kinds of stuff. :)

I've never heard of a starter going bad because of water hitting it on the X but it could happen. I know I've done a starter and it isn't a trail friendly repair.

I have a new alternator ready to go on, but I was just using up the old one. I've heard much noisier bearings so I think it'll get me another trip. I hope. lol

If you're wondering, you can get about 50-100 miles on a dead alt and the battery alone. We just would stop, throw the jumper cables on and let it charge off my alt for 10-15 min. I've helped a couple of people get home that way.  :o

Battery replaced. Seems like they last lesser time each time we replace one. Perhaps we need a new alternator. The one we replaced was about 13 months old. It was a green Interstate.
