Frontier
« on: December 23, 2014, 05:18:06 PM »
wife wants to get a Pick up to tow our future boat (which I hope we will never buy)    How is the Frontier for off road and even hauling a small boat?  I figure short bed to (haul spare tire and extra fuel cans and supplies.  Crew cab is a must and the 4 XPro package seams the one to get.

Any thoughts?

Longer wheel base allows for more stability, but worse turning radius.

I looked a new one and it had better leg room. The Salesman sales Nissan put a different Tranny from my 07.

Firmly I think a boat is a huge money pit, however,  It will make a great tow vehicle moving back home to Phx. They guy tied to make a pitch on the Titan. Way too big!

On the side note the Dealer did say Xterra and Frontier is live and well with Nissan. That's Good News. 8)

Now this is a sticky point for all you guys who pull stuff.   We all know the book spec which is 4500lbs. but with a reasonably size boat of 18-20 ft. open configure boat, still no problems?

What about grades.?

Tows just fine! I have a small 15ft boat that I haul.. I can barely tell its back there on the freeway. I also hauled my grandparents 20ft (might have been bigger) pontoon. That was a little different but did just fine minus the mpg..

Other than being able to haul stuff in the bed, there is not a lot of difference between the Fronty and the X.  Titan would be a different story - especially when then finally release the 5.0L Cummins.

Like moving  back to Arizona  this next year 2015.

What this new Tranny  Nissan is speaking of that creates more leg room?
