GROM OEM BlueTooth streaming audio/Ipod/Android add on
« on: December 28, 2014, 03:15:16 PM »
I really missed having the bluetooth streaming audio option when driving . I decided to price several audio installers for a new bluetooth stereo and the cheapest double din I could find was about $150. But it also required several other add-ons that really raise the price dramatically. The harness, new face plate, steering wheel control module etc. All of these little items plus install really raise the end price, not to mention I would have to leave my car with hem for almost an entire day. All I really wanted was BT audio and I preferred to keep the stock stereo system since it has a clean low key appearance.

I found this company named GROM after reading numerous reviews. It actually plugs into the OEM head unit directly and streams audio through the SAT controls. Install was dead easy. Remove the top tray unscrew the three visible Phillips screws, and a firm pull on the faceplate and the entire unit pops off. From there remove the SAT plug, plug in the GROM harness tap the constant power wire using their included tap, replace the faceplate and you are ready to go.

It works really well and sounds excellent. The steering wheel controls work with the BT streaming audio and you can also use your phone or the OEM head unit to cycle through the next track or answer calls. For about $115 you can add BlueTooth streaming audio to your OEM unit with about a 10Min's install time. You can also purchase the additional old style iPod plug and run it into your glove box etc.
