Windshield replacement with snorkel
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:53:00 AM »
Well I had Safelite out today and told me they could do my windshield unless I removed my snorkel. Anybody have their windshield replaced with snorkel and not have to remove the snorkel.

I have yet to replace mine, but I'll have to remove the snorkel and the roof rack (aftermarket rack) before I can get it done.

Marcin had his replaced back in the day and he had to take the snorkel off. I was there that day and helped him take the part off all the way down to the fender.

Really?! I had not heard this. Interesting. I could ask one of my buddies who does this. Let me know.

You dont have to take your snorkel off.  I forgot the company that I went thru, but they stated the same thing - "Cant replace it unless you take the snorkel off" - I told them it could be done.  I just unbolted the screws that hold down the snorkel up on top and bent the holding "metal" piece (not quite sure what this would be called) - but after doing that, they were able to complete the replacing of the window.  Any window company can do it, they just have to be shown how to :)  I just bent the metal holding piece back into place and screwed everything back to what it was at and that was it.  I prefer this way, much better than removing the entire snorkel.  Just my 2 cents.

Thanks
Aaron
