I'll be up there before you!  I'll try to eat a few bugs and extra not wash to make it more legit.  How's that?   ???

FirstXRS, did you reserve a bunch of those sites?  All those you mentioned as being better sites were taken already.  I reserved 113 today.
I did not. Actually, after typing all that up, I went to see what was available. Kind of funny the ones I mentioned were taken.

Aah, I wasn't expecting anyone to make a reservation yet! Using Dead Horse as an example, depending on how many people want to camp, we might have to double up on the sites.

Reserve sites? Sorry but thas not camping.
I know, but it's still a fun, relaxing, easy going time for people like me. I grew up backpacking/camping, have taken two wilderness survival classes as an adult, and have zero hesitation about roughing it.

So, I'm up for suggestions. I only brought up Dead Horse because it is in the Cottonwood area, and I stayed there before. And XTiki will be as well :)

35 bucks per vehicle?! holy cow! thats a bit steep for a glamping site.  I'll do it if everyone else is but camping on the trail sounds better to me

Which is why we're discussing options in this thread. :)

Hammer, when referencing FR525, is that ALL 525, or 525, 525a, or 525c? I only ask because I don't have the trail use map in front of me, and I only have a couple minutes to write this.

I only went with that booking due to just me and 1 other being strongly committed to camping for this trip and joining the discussion on this thread linked to the main Sedona Run thread. Its the end of March and just wanted to get something solid and organized going instead of last minute.  I'm ok with my choice and if others go in another direction thats cool too.  Not having a lot of gear for anything other than an overnight,  Staying 2 nights at a more civilized actual site seems like the best way to go for me.  Im not trying to steer the trip and all that.  Just dont have a lot of time to pick up more gear or plan on the fly last minute.

someone should post a definate meet up location and time etc for everyone coming from different directions.  Love Sedona.  Lookin forward to this run for sure.

It's been a while so it is hard to say for sure, but I believe I have camped around Here

As I understand it anything east of FR525 used to be red rock area and you could not camp there, since then I believe they have opened it up.  We used to camp on the west side of the road, but I think now you can camp on either side.

I hear ya. I'm probably going to stay there again. So much easier to just reserve a site and go when the time comes. Helps out a lot when there's a lot going on. And imo, $35 for a couple days with the facilities provided isn't bad at all. And like I said, with its proximity to Cottonwood, it's easier to pack in quality food and drink. :)

It's been a while so it is hard to say for sure, but I believe I have camped around here https://www.google.com/maps/@34.9249108,-111.9185289,287m/data=!3m1!1e3

Hmmmmmmmmmmm I'll have to look at this closer. I have (requested) the week after the run off from work, I might spend a couple more days in the area. Thanks!

I work Friday until 3pm, so I doubt we'd be close to be ready to leave for Friday. We will plan to camp out after the trail on Saturday though.

I'll be doing Dead Horse both nights. Been so busy, and will be up until the trip, that making a safe (and comfy!) play is best.

35 bucks per vehicle?! holy cow!

I know it's late, but I just realized what this said. I'd like to clarify that it's $35 for two days. $20 for just one, and that's with the $5 online reservation fee. If you roll up on the 17th or 18th and find an open spot, it's just $15.
