  • PitSnipe (Kyle): Wow, I have not heard of this issue. 15 hour job for a $50 part is nuts. Hopefully someone that knows of this issue will speak up.

  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

Shocks
« on: March 26, 2015, 10:39:46 PM »
Going to be relacing my shocks. 2 questions.

1) if I plan a pml in the future will changing the shocks out now not work after the pml?

2) I know Bilstein is a great way to go. Are there any other good options that may be a little more affordable?

in number 1 are you asking if get new shocks now, can you still do the PML? regardless, you can do either one first.

nummber 2: bilsteins are the best! and there are a few other companies like rancho, old man emu, etc but the price difference isn't all that big.  IMO i would spend the little bit of extra dough on bilsteins (go with the 3" suspension lift ones.  doesn't matter if you don't plan on doing the lift, it works without it and allows for farther travel)

That you're trying to get rid of? What do you want for them?

Ranchos or Bilstein? I can't seem to find part #s for the Bilstein 5100s for an '04 Xterra. Currently thinking the Bilstein 4600s. I don't want an extremely stiffer ride.

Hands down Bilsteins

I'm having a hard to finding part numbers for the 5100s to compare pricing vs. the 4600s. I hear though that the 5100s are extremely stiff compared to the 4600s. I don't have any armor or HD bumpers either.

I also looked around for ya and couldn't find 5100's for your year. I think even the 4600's will be better the Rancho. I looked around didn't find much for options for ya sorry. I checked King shocks, Fox shocks and pro-comp. Pro-comp has some for your X just don't know how good they are.
