New Tires and PML
« on: April 09, 2015, 07:00:28 PM »
I will be getting some new tires in the next few weeks.

So far I've found, in my price range, some 31x10.5x15 GT Adventuro AT

Does anybody have any experience with these? I want to be sure I go with the best option for my truck.

Also, considering a PML on the truck but do not have any experience lifting anything. Is this a relatively easy process for somebody that does all their own work on their car anyway? Or is there a Mod Day in the works?

A PML is a cinch and don't wait a minute to get it done, just a floor jack and some 19mm wrenches and sockets and crank it up. Just don't get crazy and leave a finger width between the top bump stop and the a-arm. You will need an alignment afterwards so keep that in mind.

I have an extra set of calmini 2 inch shackles if you're interested. You just replace the stock ones with these, I can explain if needed.

I just got a set of these bad boys! Not your size, but I'm sure they can get them.

PML is a cinch! just like Conundrum said though, leave enough space at the bump stop.  Where are you located? I have my last day of my job tomorrow and have some time off and would love to work on an X

The Shackles that you have are everything I will need? And will work on an 02?

If so, what would you want for them? I plan on picking some up soon anyway so this will be easier.

I'm around 48th St. and Southern.

Got a friend planning on giving me a hand but you are definitely welcome. Neither of us have done this on and X so your assistance would be invaluable.

If you are interested I will let you know when/ where I plan on doing it. Probably just before I get the new tires so I can knock that and the alignment out all at once.

Yes, they are for a Gen1. They're complete but used, so there's some scrapes etc. however I didn't receive any bushings with them and after buying several used sets and looking on the web I guess you're just supposed to use them as is. I didn't want the slop and used some plumbers tape to fill in the gap between the bolt and bushing. I've used them like this for a long time now and they appear to be holding up.

$40 is what I think I paid, so I'll pass them on for that. If you wanted to drive it to my house at 43rd and Bethany we could install and crank the t-bars at the same time. Would take less than an hour I believe. The alignment would be good enough to get it to a shop, but I wouldn't drive it too much like that.

Just let me know what works for you. PM for my Phone #.
Thanks!

ETA: I see there is a bushing that must have came with them originally, I just didn't get them.
