  • Conundrum: lol, they're contagious and more lights coming on, worrying to see the oil pressure indicator and also the windshield washer fluid lights, however I'll just wait and see if it goes away when things dry out. Good thing I took it through emissions this morning. Never Fails. lol

  • Conundrum: Wow, with all the rain I've been in as well as flooding in the X on Fat Tire, I have a new issue. Set light blinking rapidly and goes away after restarting the engine. I did a little research and I guess the cruise actuator can get nasty and seems plausible since I went through a puddle on purpose on the right hand side and that made the set light for cruise start flashing again. I'll check it out after the rain stops. lol Have fun and be safe out there everyone.

Gen1 T-Belt, Water Pump Replacement Write up
« on: April 16, 2015, 07:40:57 AM »
Please download the Presentation I put together showing pictures and instructions on how to change your Timing Belt on the Gen1 Nissan Xterra and Frontier.

Don't delay on this important Maintenance item as the Nissan 3.3 is an interference engine that will be destroyed by a bad belt.

Every Belt I've done has been loose and off at least one tooth, which explains poorer than normal performance and fuel mileage. :o

I hope you find this helpful, however do it at your own risk, otherwise pay someone to do it for you.

Nice write up, shouldn't the bottom pulley be at top dead center?  Also, how long did this take to do?

I rotated the engine till the marks lined up on the cam shafts. I wasn't able to figure out the mark on the crank till i had it apart. Just don't turn anything till the new belt is back on and tight. The OEM belt had marks that lined up with the factory marks and I was sure to line up the crank mark first. Cams are a little harder because they want to fall one direction or the other, just don't rotate them around, just realign and you're fine.

It takes about 8 hrs to complete depending on skill level and confidence.
