We are planning a three day trip up to the Paria Plateau next weekend to see White Pocket. We will be leaving early Saturday morning from Tucson, camping all weekend at the spot at returning Monday. Camping is remote with no amenities. Its high desert also so there is not much natural shade. It should be mide 70's during the day and around 50 at night.

It is a deep sandy road back in there so 4wd is required. I have seen pictures of stock 4x4's back there so as long as you have 4wd you should be fine.

If anyone wants to go, post up.

If it weren't 7+ hours away I'd be there in a heartbeat. Maybe for a longer trip one of these days.

Rosie it may be 7+ hour drive for you. Did you know it is 6.5+ hour drive from Phoenix and for Tim it is an 8.5 hour drive.

So tell us again why you can't go? LOL.....

Because I might have to work that Monday morning?

I don't think your reply is doing a very good job of persuading me to go... If I'm driving 8 hours for a camping trip, I'm not really interested in staying one night.

Can't really blame you for not wanting to drive that far for one night.  If we couldn't stay 2 nights we wouldn't be driving that far either. ;D

Well it looks like I might have Monday off after all! I'm considering making the trip down. Hopefully my knee's up for some hiking.

Do you have a GPS marker on Google Maps or something for the campsite?

I don't have coordinates.  Just search White Pocket, AZ on google maps.  There is a road on the east side of that area.  We plan on camping right at the end of that road.

Alright, I think I see the open area you're talking about, at the end of Pine Tree Rd.

I'm gonna see if anybody up here wants to come along, if that's cool with you.

I think Pine Tree Rd is south of White Pocket a little ways.

This is the spot.

Also, I don't mind if you bring anyone else.

Arg, not enough notice to request time off work! This definitely looks like a trip I want to take very soon!
