Bear Canyon Lake Camping
« on: June 15, 2015, 02:04:41 AM »
Some friend and I will be camping near Bear Canyon Lake in a couple weeks.  I have never camped here before but the spot was recommended to me by a friend.  I plan on spending June 26-28th camping, fishing, and enjoying the hammock.

All are welcome, location on google maps Here.

Let me know when you can be there, it would be nice to have someone show up early to reserve a spot.

I'm interested in this. Gotta get approval from the olé ball and chain. If I can't camp I might come up early Saturday to fish.

My brother is coming into town for a week on the 27th, if I can convince him to get out of the heat I would be coming up.

If you are fishing bear canyon make sure to hit up Knoll and Chevelon as well, possibly even Haigler creek if you have the time all 3 locations NEVER disappoint.

Looks like no fire restrictions so everyone bringing a couple bundles would be good.  Can usually be found at ACE.  Mostly just bring food and supplies for yourself, remember it can get cold at night there.  Also, be prepared to pack out what you pack in.

I will try to get that Sunday off work. If my plans go the way I want them, I will come up Saturday afternoon.  I will camp Saturday and Sunday night.

So my plan is to get off work by 2pm on Friday the 26th and head up.

Last time I was there we went to Bear Canyon Lake. From what I remember it was a bitch to get down to. Its almost surrounded by steep rugged slopes. I tried to fish, but was too windy. You had to cast into the wind just to have it land in front of you. Then within seconds it was so far behind you from the wind/white caps/current that I would have to reel it in. I didn't fish for more than 30 min.

Still planning on joint Saturday. Will the fire in strawberry affect this?
