  • AZGeorge: @Rob - I prototyped three different roof baskets.  Learned lots and scrapped them all.  Also took off the solar panel - going to mount a basket and hot water tank :)  Moving to 200 watt folding panels as I don't use them on the move anyway.

Radiator Swap
« on: June 22, 2015, 09:27:36 PM »
Well the top mount on old radiator broke off and I have been holding it in place with zip ties for almost a month now.

I did a radiator swap over the weekend, this was an easy but somewhat tedious job, the spacing is very tight when removing and installing the radiator. Overall not to bad and can be knocked out in a day. The other plus is no SMOD and I shouldn't have to worry about it in the future. If you are considering doing this job on your own vs taking it to a shop DO IT! Firestone  and a few other shops quoted me over 1k for parts and install. The radiator cost  $158 shipped from CARID and two bottles of Prestone radiator fluid $15 ea, plus a couple gallons of distilled water $1.50 ea, used for flushing the system before and after install. If you have a free weekend and don't mind the summer heat this is a great piece of mind project if you have the OEM radiator. Very easy no special tools needed besides a 10mm box wrench and 10mm socket. Plus a flat head screwdriver and a set of pliers.

I've done this as well on my 1st 2004 and it isn't that bad at all. I agree with Chuy, do it yourself.
