  • PitSnipe (Kyle): Wow, I have not heard of this issue. 15 hour job for a $50 part is nuts. Hopefully someone that knows of this issue will speak up.

  • downs44: Got an 06 that just went through SMOD. Got everything replaced. Now my low oil pressure light is flickering on after the engine warms up and the truck is at idle. Doing some digging on the forums it looks like a common problem is the rear timing cover gallery gasket leaking and causes the symptoms. Looks like a 15 hour or so repair for a $50 part. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and any words of advise. To save some dialogue, the oil pressure sensor is about a year old and I changed the oil and filter after i noticed the light and that did not fix the issue.

I only know one guy with a jeep but he is a poser so not much trail driving.  My thoughts are that perhaps we postpone till another day.  120+ of anything is a lot on a trail like that.

I think a reschedule works best for me. I have to be back in town early for a race.

I was there last year when they did this, and didn't know it was happening until I showed up.. I squeezed in between the 1st and 2nd groups (there were three). They kept it moving pretty good, only a couple of breaks on the way. They were a nice group, and only had nice things to say  for the lone Nissan. There were a few "holy crap, did you see the Nissan take that line?" or "Wow, I have a new respect for Xterras. Didn't know they could do that.." comments too.  ;D Town was crowding up pretty good by the time we hit top, so we bugged out quick and got down the hill before the traffic jam started. Oh, they gave me an official CK jeep ride (15th anniv) sticker too..

You guys ever get up the hill? This recent weather (IMO) is the best time to go. Start off in dirt and rocks w/ blue skys, make your way up to the top through blinding rain and wind, and you might find yourself in a snowstorm at the top.. Epic trail and inclemment weather only makes it better.

If you do go up the backroad to CK when wet, just be careful of the soft edges.  There are a few spots where you could easily have a bad day if the rain softened clay gives way.

From what I have been told the snow trips are the most challenging. My old club did a run every year in the snow but I was told lockers are recommended. The views must be amazing as you climb to the top covered in snow.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
