Trails near Scottsdale, AZ?
« on: August 18, 2015, 04:29:25 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm an active member from SCCX and will be spending 3 days and 2 nights in Scottsdale in October of 2016.

I will have my X with me and I'm looking for some trail info from the experts. My wife is looking for scenic trails with spectacular landscape.

My X is SAS'd, locked front/rear, with crawler gears, and armored. Capable of hardcore trails yet my wife is not into those. She wants "pretty scenery"...lol.

Thanks for any responses

It won't challenge your rig at all. But the Apache trail is short and has some good change of scenery.

i just did the seven springs trail in my X not really challenging but for about 50+ miles the scenery definetly changes.. sends you back to the i17 and you can either go north or south back to phoenix.. starts in scottsdale..

Take her to "the coves" at Saguaro Lake. You can be as mild or wild as you like, scenery is great, and you can take a dip in the lake if you're hot.
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..

Ahh Saguaro, I cut my teeth wheeling there.  The obstacles can be downright dangerous back there.  You can take a fairly easy sandy road or climb in and out of the caverns and go wild.  Air down Here and climb up Here  Have fun and stay safe, there are lots of climbs you likely wont be able to make, you'll be dealing with a mix of sand and rock.

Yeah, running the Coves at Saguaro Lake is still a good time.  I was out there in March with the ATV.  They have signed a bunch of the trails and fenced off some of the old play areas.  The one famous play spot where everyone could get on 3 wheels has been completely graded away.  But, the scenery is second to none out there, and the lake is refreshing.

Depending what lake, some may consider them a bit cold. I would say perfect as I like mine that way and not piss warm.
