  • Conundrum: Wow, with all the rain I've been in as well as flooding in the X on Fat Tire, I have a new issue. Set light blinking rapidly and goes away after restarting the engine. I did a little research and I guess the cruise actuator can get nasty and seems plausible since I went through a puddle on purpose on the right hand side and that made the set light for cruise start flashing again. I'll check it out after the rain stops. lol Have fun and be safe out there everyone.

How many GEN2 X' w/ body lifts?
« on: October 26, 2015, 01:04:02 PM »
Did you buy a kit, or piece one together?
Pics if you have them please..
(I noticed a broken body mount on my '07 the other day, and thought, well, it's time for a 2" BL..)

If you ask Vince (slapshotking) he says it's not worth the trouble to put on. The  kit is very cheap from Nisstech $179.00 and you get everything.

I ran a 2" BL on my GEN1 and liked the wheel well space so, to me, it's worth it.
I see WhipV has an installation writeup too, piecing the kit together for about $80.
Anyone have one installed w/ pics? The only one I remember who wheeled w/ one in AZXC was ONIX..

Onix ran a 3" BL.  I've been running a 2" BL since 2009.  Mine was the BL kit from AC (4x4Parts.com).  Any of the pics of my X from 2009 forward are with the BL.

I would pay someone to put it on way easier with a hydraulic shop lift. I helped do it on a Jeep one time in a garage with jacks and it was a PITA. When it came time to do mine the shop only charged me $100 for install. Well worth the cost, I would have gladly paid more.
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Does the paved road and 80mph road handling change with a lift, bumpers and heavier coils? Is the effect noticeable and braking distance longer?

If you have the stock front bumper, add $50 for the relocation bracket.  The relo bracket does need to be drilled out though, as it does not line up exactly right.  Also, you have to drill holes in the stock rear bumper (assuming you have the stocker) and shave off a lip. You will need a grinding wheel and at least a 1/2" drill bit.  Ideally, if you can get a drill bit about 1 size larger, you'll be in a good place, but I had a hard time finding one when I did mine.  Also, when drilling the bumper, remember to spray some non-flammable lubricant (and no, Jergens is not appropriate here) to keep the drill bit cool and helps prevent it from dulling quickly.

This is a complete body lift kit including hardware.
• Provides 2 inches of lift.
•Provides more fender space for larger tires without as much change in ride characteristics compared to a suspension lift.
•Kit comes with: ◦ Provisions for Stock Skid Plate
◦ High Quality Body Blocks
◦ Grade 8 Body Bolts
◦ Provisions for Power Steering Reservoir Steering Shaft Extension
All Necessary Hardware
◦ Installation Instructions.

Anyone bought the kit from AC parts? My Gen1 BL kit from them came with the relocation brackets..

Use a Stepper bit. I bought one for the slider installs and body lifts we did and I still use it to this day. It was a high quality one I ordered from McMaster Carr. I bought the 3/4 Inch version with I think 1/8th steps for metal thickness. Coolant definitely helps.

Surprised but not shocked you would have to modify something to make it work. On the Gen1 it was optional to relocate the radiator, that is if you didn't live or off-road where the temps are above 100Deg. lol We opted for cutting the lower radiator support and using other hardware I had on hand for mounting. The stock stuff was just self tapping screws. Not going to last. I used good ol' nuts an bolts. :)

I'll help you Dan if you want to do your Gen2.

If this is happening i'd like to help out also. I want to see if this is something i'd want to do or if i dont want to mess with the body lift.
