CK to Senator Highway to FR362(Wagner RD) 11-2-15
« on: November 06, 2015, 09:45:38 AM »
AZ Wandering Bear (Wade) and I met up in Crown King around 9am.  We took Senator Highway out of Crown King to FR362 (Wagner RD.)  The trip was inspired by an apple tree that Wade and I found a few months back, on a different trip. ( http://www.azxterraclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=2103.0 )  The apples where not ready to be picked, so we agreed to come back when the apples where in season.  We also stopped at a couple abandoned houses, grave sites, cemeteries, corrals , Gold Bar Ranch, historic Hassayampa Bridge and a Native American ruin site.  Wagner Rd dumped us out on 89 at Kirkland Junction, just north of Peoples Valley.  I did arrive to CK early and went on a morning hike until I met up with Wade.  Over all a great trip.  We covered a lot of ground, and got to see a lot of cool stuff.  We even came across one of the Granite Mountain Hot shots grave sites.

This trip vs other CK trips I have done.  Yellow dots are the stops we did.

CK

A short hike up Porphry Mountain.

Killing 30 minutes on top of Porphry.

Another Xterra arrived.

And the journey begins

The yummy apples.

Overall the roads where in good condition. 2WD could make this trip as long as its dry. Some of the side roads to the ruins and abonded houses could be rough for a 2WD truck.

The road ahead.

Someone didnt put there fire out. There was still a lot of heat coming from this camp fire.

Heading down to a point on the Hassayampa. Rougher Roads.

4 structures still standing down by the river.

Gold Bar Campsite and Lake.

Walnut Grove Cemetery, School House and Church.

Granite Mountain Hot Shot Grave.

Historic Hassayampa Bridge

Last stop. Native American Ruins

Great pics, thanks for sharing. I've never been on that trail, always cool to see something new. I'm flummoxed though, when was this? I'd expect to see a lot of snow if it was recently..
I got your "Jeep thing", now it burns when I pee..

I was there Monday morning. The snow came a day or two later.
